POLICE BRIEFS
Driver Brings In
New Year With
Over 80 Charge
A 22 -year-old male from
Huron East has been
charged with "Over 80" after
he was stopped by Huron
County OPP just hours into
2016. Unfortunately for him
he wasn't showered with
gifts rather he was arrested,
fingerprinted, photographed
and later released from
custody with a court date.
At approximately 3:35 a.m.
on Jan. 1, 2016 a Huron
County OPP officer stopped
a Dodge Dakota pickup
truck that was travelling
on Zurich-Hensall Road
near Bluewater Veteran's
Highway. Upon speaking
with the male driver the
officer noted the driver had
consumed some alcohol.
A demand for the roadside
screening test was given to
the driver and he complied
by providing a sample
of his breath. The test
resulted in a fail for the
driver. He was immediately
placed under arrest and
transported to the Huron
OPP Detachment where he
later provided two samples
of his breath to a qualified
Intoxilizer Technician.
Both samples registered
over the legal limit.
As a result, a 22 -year-
old man from Bluewater
has been charged with
Drive Motor Vehicle – Over
80 Milligrams of Alcohol,
Drive Motor Vehicle with
Open Container of Liquor
and Drive Motor – No
Validation on Plate. He
has been released from
custody with a court
appearance scheduled for
the Ontario Court of Justice
– Goderich on Feb. 8,
2016. He also received an
automatic 90 day driver's
licence suspension and
his motor vehicle has been
impounded for seven days.

Gift Shop outreach successful
for Wingham Hospital
Dear Editor,
As a `Fundraiser" for
our Hospital, the Auxil-
iary to the Wingham and
District Hospital initiated
"a Gift Shop Outreach"
program.
We were welcomed
warmly by the retirement
residences "Sepoy
Manor" and "Nine Mile
Villa" in Lucknow, and
included as part of their
Family Christmas Party.
It was a great experi-
ence in every way and
provided an opportunity
to reconnect with three
residents, Dorothy
Cruickshank, Jane Tre-
leaven and Marie Phillips,
all of whom are long time
dedicated members of
our auxiliary.
We were reminded
again of how fortunate we
are to have several "class
A" facilities, as well as a
great hospital in our area.
ALSO, at this time - Spe-
cial Thanks to our local
merchants and commu-
nity members for their
generous support of our
annual Poinsettie Tea and
Bake Sale. Successful, once
again, thanks to Susan Hall
and her committee.
