Handel's Messiah enters 18th year of performance ushering in Christmas season
Handel's Messiah once
again ushers in another
Christmas season in the
region on Dec. 17.
Orchestra Grey Bruce and
the Saugeen County Chorus
are presenting the 18th annual
performance at the Knox Pres-
byterian Church Kincardine,
with a show at 8 p.m.
Soloists include Meghan
De Jager, soprano; Laura
McAlpine, alto; John De
Jager, tenor; George Hiem-
stra, bass; Al Mullin, Tim
Eaton, trumpets; Diane
Eaton, organ and Conductor
Richard Mascall.
This great choral work is
performed with full orchestra
and has become a favourite
Christmas tradition in Kincar-
dine and surrounding area.
Orchestra Grey Bruce will
be joined by professional
musicians from across
Ontario and Quebec.
This year the Saugeen
County Chorus welcomes
old friends and new mem-
bers to form a group of 50
singers.
Headlining the event are
four fabulous soloists. The
event will welcome back a
wonderful father and daugh-
ter team from Goderich as
well.
Meghan De Jager, soprano
Meghan graduated with
her Bachelor of Music in
Honours Voice Performance
from Wilfrid Laurier Univer-
sity and has recently been
appointed as the director of
the A Cappella Chamber
Choir of Port Elgin.
John De Jager, tenor
A former member of the
Stratford Boys Choir, John
began taking voice lessons
(and still does to this day)
from Mr. Earl Clark of
Stratford.

Hydro One approves moratorium on disconnecting customers

Hydro One has approved a
moratorium on disconnect-
ing customers from their
electricity services.
The announcement was
made Monday; the same day
as The Sun Times published a
story that quoted United Way
of Bruce Grey executive direc-
tor Francesca Dobbyn urging
the utility to halt disconnects.
"Hydro One instituted its
winter moratorium for dis-
connections as of Friday,
Nov. 25, one week earlier
than usual," Ferio Pugliese,
executive vice-president of
customer care and corporate
affairs, said in a statement.
