Themed cakes the focus
at Wawanosh Twisted
Mixers final meeting
The final meeting of the
Wawanosh Twisted Mixers was
held on Aug. 23 at the Auburn
Hall.
Jolande Oudshoorn opened
the meeting with the 4-H motto.
Roll Call had all of the mem-
bers describe their favourite
birthday cake. Loretta Higgins
read through the minutes from
the previous meeting. The club
read their members manual to
learn about different icing
techniques.
The club split up into three
groups to decorate three differ-
ently themed cakes. Maisy Jeffer-
son and Amanda Morrison cut a
cake into a 4-H shape and deco-
rated it with green and clovers.
Loretta Higgins, Justin Morrison
and Gayle Mcllhargey decorated
a birthday cake with a robot
theme. Jolande Oudshoorn,
Deanna Haanstra, and Abby Rob-
inson used piping bags and flow-
ers to decorate a wedding cake.
After all the cake decorating was
complete, members enjoyed their
cake as a snack Jolande closed the
meeting with the 4-H motto.
Member books are due Aug. 30.
The achievement date is to be
announced.

Ladies who were able to
attend the bridal shower for
Nicole (Nikki) Reid recently,
enjoyed seeing all the lovely gifts
she received.
Thanks to everyone who
organized and put on the
shower.
Many gals attended the bridal
shower for Kathryn Bridge. It
was held at the home of her sis-
ter-in-law Courtney on the
Southline Sunday Aug. 7.
Everyone enjoyed the country
style picnic, followed by the
presentation of gifts. It was a
meeting of old friends, neigh-
bours and relatives of the bride
to be. Kathryn is the daughter of
Donna and Dennis Bridge.
On Saturday Aug. 13 many rel-
atives and friends attended the
Jack and Jill shower held for
bride to be Tanya Coulthard and
her intended Chris Mathewson
in London. Tanya is the daughter
of Shirley (Bridge) Coulthard
and the late LeRoy Coulthard.
Christina, Tyson and Cooper
VandeSype visited with family
and friends in the area recently.
While they were here they cele-
brated a birthday party for the
Farrell grandchildren. Recent
visitors with Fran and Jim were
Irene and Joe West of Stratford.
Congratulations to Maxene
Clark and Jonathon Murray who
were married on Saturday.
Congratulations as well to
Julianne (Clifford) and Andrew
House on the birth of their baby
boy.
Stefani and Mike Simpson of
Upper New York state visited
with Shirley and Doug MacDon-
ald and her MacDonald siblings
this week.
Irene Boyle and her daugh-
ters, Bonnie, Heather and
Corinne went for a trip down
memory lane recently when they
visited Five Oaks near Paris,
Ontario. Reminiscing about
times spent at Family Camp
there in the 60's.
Irene Boyle had Kerry and her
children, Mallory and Skye Har-
rigan for a rousing game of
Scrabble at Irene's home at
Brucelea Haven in Walkerton
last Saturday.
Deanna and Morley Scott
attended the 25th wedding anni-
versary celebration of Frances
(Scott) and Bev Kingston on
Sunday.
There was lots of things to
attend this weekend. Diane Clif-
ford and Fran Farrell attended
the IPM 2016 Quilt show in Har-
riston. They appreciated
the talents of many folks who
contributed to that event. Sev-
eral folks from the area attended
the Heritage Fair at Paisley; the
Motocross at Walton; and the
Food, Arts and Crafts show in
Ripley.
Our sympathy is sent to the
family of Catherine Todd. Her
funeral was on Saturday. Sympa-
thy as well is sent to Joy Munn
and family on the death of her
husband Don Munn.
Sandra Forster visited with
Marjorie Armstrong and Violet
Bridge at RVilla on Saturday after
attending the Craft show in Rip-
ley. She also visited with Mary
Anne Kukoly. They enjoyed their
tour of the Bruce Botanical
Gardens.
Mary Anne was pleased to be
part of the birthday celebration
for Doris Schwartz who will be
95 in a few days.
