Music in the Fields 2016 brings thousands to Lucknow

Little sleep was had in the
village of Lucknow the week-
end of Aug 25-27, 2016, as
thousands of country music
fans flocked to the town for
the 8th annual Lucknow
Music in the Fields.
Starting on Thursday, trail-
ers rolled into Lucknow to
set up camp in the new
Graceland camping site off
Walter Street, which was
bought for this year's festival
to accommodate its rapid
growth in popularity by
organizing group the Kins-
men Club of Lucknow &
District.
And once the festival
kicked off Thursday after-
noon the festival grounds
was a showing of cowboy
boots and hats, sun resses
and cut-offs as far as the eye
could see.
There was an assortment
of food stalls and vendors on
the festival grounds that
offered beaver tails, sausages
and pizza, and shops that
sold leather goods, belt
buckles and other country
music staples.
However, commerce
wasn't the festival's main
attraction; it was the music.
And it boasted heavy tal-
ent with the likes of Ameri-
can musicians Frankie Bal-
lard, Jason Blaine, The
Lovelocks, Tebey and Cana-
dian fare Dean Brody.
The headliner of the festi-
val, though, was Lee Brice.
When he took to the stage it
seemed like most of the 7,000
people estimated to have
attended the three-day music
festival were in the crowd.
There was even a surprise
proposal during Brice's set
that saw the American musi-
cian perform a ballad as the
newly engaged couple
danced on stage.
And when it was over, the
trailers rolled out of town
and as of Sunday afternoon
Graceland was practically
empty, festival grounds, too.
Lucknow rocked with coun-
try for the weekend and can
now rest up for next year's
festival, which will raise the
hamlet from its slumber for
another rocking showing.
All proceeds from the
weekend will go back to sup-
port the local community
through community project,
initiatives and organizations.
