Ripley Huron girls bring home basketball championship Ripley Ravens Girls' Basketball Team won the Championship Ban- ner at the Southwest Regional Bas- ketball Tournament on March 29 at KDSS in Kincardine. Ripley defeated Lucknow 32-10 in the first game. The Ravens won their next game against Elgin Mar- ket 51-4 and Ripley would meet Huron Heights in the final game. The Ravens' defence, passing and accurate shooting proved to be too much for Huron Heights to handle as Ripley dominated play winning the game 39-12 and the SW Regional Championship. M Paisley crokinole scores in for April 2 Twenty -Four crokinole players enjoyed an afternoon of shooting at the Paisley Legion on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Results after play was finished saw Clare Kuepfer high with 58 points for the yellow card second place was tied between Amelia Hartman and Cathy Kuepfer with 48 and Al Carter placed third with 38. Yellow card 20's winnners were Al first with 35, Clare second with 29 and Amelia third with 21. White card winners were Doreen Sulkye tied with Jim Bridge with 42 points for first, Francis Zetter with 41 for second and Neil Cook took third place with 40. White card 20's were Francis tied with Larry Hen- nessey with 26, Len Zettler with 20 and Jim Garland with 18. Lucky draw winners were Eugenia Zettler, Al, Helen Zettler, Linda Simkins, Len, Larry, Ron Hodgins, and Jim Bridge. Another afternoon of play is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2016 while several of these local players will be competing at the annual St. Jacobs tournament. Scone crokinole scores for April 6 The 8th season of crokinole at the Old School House in Scone started on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 with 24 eager players. After eight games of play the scores were, Men's high Clare Kuepfer with 50, Neil Cook with 43 and Francis Zettler with 40. For the Ladies Helen Zettler was top with 51, Jo -Ann Carter second with 41 and Carol Cook with 38 for third. Men's 20's was topped by Al Carter with 40, Clare placed second with 34 and Fran- cis had 29 for third. Cathy Kuepfer topped the 20's for the ladies with 25, Helen and Jo -Ann tied with 24 and Carol had 17 for third place. Lucky draw winners were Clare, Edna Zettler, Janet Diebel and Peter Carter. Our next evening is Wednesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Ripley Wolves novices claim WOAA championship The Ripley Novice Reps were awarded the Jacobi Cup on Easter Monday, after narrowly defeating the Shallow Lake Lakers in a 3-2 overtime victory. Having a slow start in regular season play, the boys' hard work and perseverance paid off. The Wolf Cubs gained momentum nearing the end of regular season play, and were able to hang onto it well into playoffs. After sweeping Zurich in their first series, the boys were awarded top points in the Round Robin series, advancing them to the Championship series. Fans were treated to some great hockey, and with true Ripley spirit, supported the players by filling the Wolf Den to capacity with green & white! A huge congratulations goes out to the players and coaches, who defied all odds, never gave up, and played their way to WOAA Jacobi Cup Champions. Way to go Wolves!
