Legend has it that the maid

be hung on a hallway, ceiling

Picture Windows
One of the most attractive
ways to decorate wfndows is
to use strings of lights — the
outdoor type-- framing your
window. If yon set your tree
near the window, outsiders
ean' catch a glirnse of it, too.
In addition, you can cut out
angels, stars and snowflakes
from colored foil paper and
stick them unique designs on
the window pane. To add more
sparkle, coat the facing sides
with an adhesive such as rub-
ber cement or clear nail polish
and sprinkle glitter on them.
You can arrange branches
of evergreens attached to the
drapery track in the balance

the top of the -w`ndaw pane.

For originality thos Christ-
mas decorate your tree with
the new colors anal • styles of
Christmas lights. But don't
just choose any color at al—
to get a really beautiful effect
it's best to study the decce of
the room your tree wilI be in,
the color scheme of the wall,
furniture and rug, before you
even purchase the tree.
And tree colors! Some of the
most unusual effects can be
achieved by choosing the right
Dolor of tree, together with
colored lights selected to com-
plement the, room decor.
For instance, if your living -
room has light blue walls,
with furniture and rug in
blues, greens and white, try a
Christmas tree paipted white,
'and decorate with blue and
green lighted Ice lights. Light-
ed Ice lights resemble a large
globe of light with chips of
"ice' all over it. When lit, they
create a soft wintry look.that
i4 quite unusual. .You can get
an all -white string and socket
set to blend with a spray -pain-
ted tree, enhancing the effect
of the colored lights.
A living room with white
walls, with furniture and rug
in burnt orange and beiges,
would look very attractive
with a Christams tree painted

Use gold and silver spray -
'painted trees carefully, " fpr
they can be a dominant fea-
ture of a room. They general-
ly suit a larger living room
decorated in formal style, or
a hallway.. It is better to use
a small tree, as they will stand
out without becoming too do-
minant.
Remember that your Christ-
mas tree is usually the main
centre of interest, and should
receive rarelul planning as to
its size, shape and decoration.

hand, a tree lass email will
lose its effectiveness as the
centre of interest.
It is a good rule to separate
your eentres of interest so that
they don't compete with one
another. In most livingrooms,
for instance, the Chyistmmas
tree is the centre of interest
while another may be 'the
mantel decoration. Consequen-
tly separate the Christmas tree
from the mantel..
Above' all, have lots of fun
decorating this year. It's a
wonderful chance to try your
artistry, originality, ingenuity
and creative ability.
