Is it possible to get. the word Centennial in as every- thing this year seems to be so? Is it O.K. for me to. introduce the parents, maid of honor and bridesmaids? Sort Of Stuck DEAR SORT After pre- liminary entertaining remarks express good wishes this way: "Let's hope that Our*CCenten- nial ,Year bride can look for. ward to 100 years of lrappi- ness!" ritroduce the attendants and, parents informally — not as part' of your speech. (P.S. It isn't usually "done" for a relative to give a shower. Looks too much as if the fami- ly i asking for gifts, I guess. Could you get a close' friend'of the bride to actually issue the. invitations?) DEAR DORI — I went with a boy for si months. I love him, and stuck through all his problems, concerning school, parents, law or anything. But we broke up. Ile did love me then, I know it. But now he is more cruel than I thought he was capable of. He knows (because of my Japanese and German back- ground) that I am sensitive to- wards any prejudice, so to be mean he calls me a half, breed. In a fit of hurt and jealousy I cut my wrist and, had to apply a tourniquet to stop the bleed- ing. I never expected that I could behave this way. But, can you honestly think he doesn't care? I'll never stop loving him. I try to ignore him now in spite of the pain. Heart Broken DEAR HEART — The way I see it, he belittles you to try to' justify breaking off. He hasn't" the character, yet, to really .eare for any girl. . The insults are despicable — and my only- advice is to keep on ignoring him. A girl with the nerve to cut her own wrist also has enough fortitude to meet life head on. Siphon off some of those pent-up feelings to a confidant you can trust. DEAR DORIS — About enter- taining students , from other countries: Not only is it, not feasible to start your own "In- ternational House", but what the average student really wants is to be welcomed into a Can- adian home and treated as a friend, and the couple who wrote to you sound like they - would be ideal. You said it was a two-way street — I feel that we have been rewarded far more than perhaps the students that we have befriended. We strated out with three from different coun- tries for ' a Christmas dinner and have met their friends; and so it goes until we new have nearly a dozen students that feel quite at home with us. Of all the things this busy family doe S I think we all en-. joy our intetnation students the most. Friendship Venture DEAR FRIENDSHIP — Won- derful!
