Winners
In Talent
Contest
Children' representing Huron-
-Perth District Farmers' Union
were the first 'and third prize
winners at the OFU talent Con-
test held after the banquet at
Chatham Kinsmen Memorial
Mall.
The Storey sisters, Sherri and
Donna (first prize winners) had
only started to dance when the
audience of nearly 1,000 start-
ed clapping their hands and
stamping their feet.
The Henderson children, Don-
na, Darlene, Bobbie and Don-
nie (third prize winners) re-
ceived a tremendous ovation
and it was impossible to deter-
mine •Cvho should be first prize
winners according to a number
who attended the event.

Beverly McCall, RR 3 Wal-
ton was awarded County Hon-
ors at the 4-Z1 l.chievement
Day held in Auburn HOII, Sa-
turday. The certificate and
pin were presented by Mrs.
Wilfred Colceugh Clinton,
District President of the Wom-
en's Institute.
Five clubs showed 'exhibits
"on Cotton Accessories for the
Bedroom" and eight had skits
or derhonstrations.
Qn display' were dresser
scarfs, bedspreads, cushions,
chair pads, and waste paper
baskets along with their re-
cord books.

ting materials and colors for
bedroom accessories was pre-
sented by Sharon Marks, Bev-
erly
everly McCall and Debbie Wey.
Miss Sharon Carroll, Huron
County, Home Economist, was
m charge of the program for
the day, assisted by Mrs. Shir-
ley McAllister who commen-
tated on exhibits and Mrs.
Maxine Brightwell on skits
and demonstrations.
All the girls were'presented
with a 4-H coffee spoon for
completing this project.
The fifteen Walton Bedroom
Beauties were all present in-
cluding Joyce Blake, Dianne
Fraser, Mary Leeming, Shar-
on Marks, Beverly McCall,
Lynne McDonald, Margaret
McNichol, Marie Nolan, Gail

ing.

Alvin McDonald, Monday af-
ternoon.
Mrs. James Fritz opened
tthe meeting by reading an ar-
ticle on Christmas followed by
hymn 53, "Silent Night". The
scripture reading from Luke
2: 1-20 was read by Mrs. Fritz
and prayer offered. •
Hymn 59, "Hark, The Her-
ald, Angels Sing" was sung.
The topic, "the meaning of
Christmas" was taken by Mrs.

which hymn 62 "While Shep-
herds Watched their Flocks by
Night" was Sung.
Mrs'. Jan Van Vliet was in
charge of the business. The.
roll call was answered by 15
members and one guest was
present.,
An offering was taken to be
given to the Salvation Army
and the regularollection was
also received. Arrangements
were made for the 1968 meet-
ings.

mas cards for Seaforth Manor
residents. There -will be a study

Mr. and Mrs. George Love
were guests of honor Friday
evening at a wedding recep-
tion in the Walton Commun-
ity Hall. During the evening

' OSCAR E. TEBBUTT
The death occurred at Hur-
onview on Monday of Oscar E.
Tebbutt, 77. tor many years a
well known resident of Seaforth.
While he had not been •in
good health fon,' the 'past two
years, until recently he was
ableto enjoy drives down town
where he enjoyed meeting his
many friends.
He, was the son of the late
George Tebbutt and Caroline
Sheppard and was born an ed-
ucated in Holmesville. He farm-
ed in that area for a number of
years. coming to Seaforth about
35 years ago.
He was in charge of Main-
tenance at the former Seafnr
Golf and) Country Club and lat-
er was in charge of Seaforth
Lions Park. In recent years he
carried on a trucking business
until his retirement in. 1965..
He was a member of North-
side United Church
Surviving are his wife, the
former Catherine E. Purdue, to
whom he was married in Clin-
ton in 1912, one daughter, Mrs:'
Everett (Elizabeth) Felkar, Tren-
ton; t'o sons, Kenneth F., Sea -
forth; and Reginald W., London;
two sisters, Mrs. William •
(Blanche) Cox, Porterhill; and
Mrs. William- (Edith) Sheppard,
Washington, D.C.; one brother,
William of Goderich; seven
grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.
The. body was at- the R. S.
Box funeral home, where fun-
eral service was held at .m
Wedaiesday, conducted by Rev.
J. C. Britton. ,Interment follow-
ed in Clinton cemetery.
Pallbearers were Roy McGon-
igle, Frank Case, Eldon Kerr,
Garry Merner, Jack Merner and
Glenn Smith. Flower bearers
were Melvin Tebbutt, Paul
Felker and Robert Felkar.

most enjoyableevening
was spent at. tie Manse on
Tuesday when the Fireside
Fellowship Group met for the
Christrnas meeting. Mrs; JAhn
Crardne presided over the busi-
ness period and opened' the
meeting with a poem, "en old, -
fashioned Christmas". The
scripture lesson and prayer
was read by Margaret Grieve
and two carols were sung with
Mrs. Cardn'o at the small or-
gan. Rev. charge of a Christmas
programme and Mrs. Fry read
an article written by Rev. C.
Ritchie Bell of Montreal. Also
some thoughts of her own
which included Gladness, oyr,
'Love and. Peace. She closed
this part of the evenings pro-

were played after which Santa
Claus (George Hays), appeared
and distributedgifts to every-
one. Mr. Bert Moggach in well
