Thirteen -year-old muscular dystrophy victim, Kirk Clou-
thier, whq is being helped by the co-operation of the Sea -
forth FireTBrigade, has an announcement to make. While
spending an afternoon among his friends at the local fire
hall 'he posed for this bell -ringing picture .to symbolize the
commencement of the Muscular Dystrophy Association's fund
raising drive. Kirk and others .-like him depend 'heavily on
their firefighter friends for money to help otzir scientists find
a cure for MD.

Road -Work
"Tire wet weather this sum-
mer and fall has made road
construction difficult," County
Engineer' J. W. Britnell told
members of Huron County
Council at their session in
Goderich Monday,.'' •
He stated `ht the County
had ' undertaken a rather large
program thisyear and is try-
ing desperately to complete the
last item, that of grading on
road 31 from Hillsgreen south
( to Highway 84. All other pro-
�jects are completed and the
rbad 31 job 90 per cent com-
plete, he said, but it may be
necessary . to delay „the- final
trimming and shaping of the
shoulders • and • ditches until
1968 on this project, he point-
ed out.
"While road and bridge con-
struction in wet weather is
more costly, we feel - that all
projects will be completed with-
in the original .estimates," Mr.
Britnell declare&
Road construction estimates
total $485,00 and bridges and
culverts, $165,000, -while maj-
or maintenance 'totals about
$575,000. He reported_ only on
major items. A final report for
1967 -will •be presented at the
January, 1968 Session of Coun-
ty Council.
Delbert Geiger, chairman of
the County Road Committee,
commented that _this had 'been
a very backward year on ac-
count of wet weather. He said
the 'Council should congratulate
the County Engineer 4and staff
on trying to get the work com-
pleted. •
Mr. Britnell, announced -that
a tentative date for the bfficial
opening of the new county shed
and garage at Zurich was Mon-
day,December 11 at. 3;30
with a reception following in
Dashwood Community Centre.

Huron ;County will pay com-
pensation to local municipalities
in '1967 for lands under refor-
estation for loss of -tax revenue,
Council decided on recommen-
dation df the Agriculture and
Reforestation'' Committee. -
