last week at Alumni Hall, UWO,
Franklin C. Bryans, B A., was
granted' a Master of Science de-
gree in Physiology. He is pre-
sently studying medicine in

W. HARVEY MOORE
W. Harvey Moore, 73; Sea -
forth, died Sunday at the Sea -
forth Community Hospital He
was born and educated in Tuck-
ersmith Township and wan the
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Isaac Moore, ' He farmed in
Tuckersmith Township until
1942, when he came to Seaforth
and- worked as a boilermaker
until his retirement in 1965.
He was a member of the Odd -
fellows and of Northside United
Church.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Belle Strong, -lo whom
he was married in 1920; two
brothers, Andrew, Seaforth;
Davis, Toronto; a sister, Miss
Anne, Toronto.
The body was at the R. S. Box
funeral home, where service
was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev.
J. C. Britton of Northside Unit-
ed Church officiated. Burial was
in Egmondville cemtery_ 'Pall-
bearers being:, Roy Patrick, Joe
McLellan, John Patrick, Robert
Patrick, Andrew Houston, Ken
Moore. Flower bearers were An-
drew Patrick and Kyle Chesney.
NELSON' REID
Nelson, Ferris Reid, 78, Bruce -
field, died Saturday at Clinton
Public Hospital.
Born in Stanley Township, he.
was a son of the late Mr; and
Mrs. James Reid. His wild; the-
, former Margaret Stewart, died
a year ago. •
Surviving are one 'daughter,
Mrs, John (Mary) • Mustard,
Brucefield; one brother, Fred-
erick,
rederick, Clinton; 'three -sisters,
Mrs, David (Mamie) Elliott,
London; Mrs Fred (Ruth) Mul-
holland, Clinton; Mrs. Wilber
(Eunice) Keyes, ,.Seaforth; five
grandchildren.
The body was at the Ball fun-
eral home, Clinton, where fun-
eral service was held at 2 p.m..
Monday, Rev.- C. D. Stuart,
Brucefield United Church, pffi
crating. Burial followed at.
Baird's cemetery, Stanley Town-
ship.
He was also predeceased by
two,
brothers, 'Leo'nard ,,,and
Thomas.
In early years, Mr. Reid was
a farmer and resided in Bruce -
field for the past five years. He
had also resided in Varna. He
was identified with Brucefield
United Church, He was an ho#i-
orary member of LOL 1035 Var-
na and senior member for 60
years, attending all but one Or-
ange •Walk. The LOL held a
service at the funeral home on
Sunday evening

back to the Community Centre
where around 170 gathered to
surprise them
Mr. and Mrs. Scherbarth, the
former Freida Heppenrath,
daughter of Mrs. William Hop-
penrath and the late Mr. Hop-
penrath, were married at her
home 'on Oct, 20, 1942, by Rev.
Fredericksen, now a minister
in Windsor.
Mrs, Harold Elligsen, was the
bride's attendant and the late
Herman Scherbarth was his
brother's best man. •
They have two children, Mrs.
Calbin (Rose) Gilck, Kitchener
and Charles, RR 1, Bornholm
and six grandchildren.
During the, , evening progres-
sive euchre was played and fol-
lowing this Rev. Galvin Gilck
welcomed everyone, Mrs. Ed-
ward Scherbarth, Jr., wrote and
read a very fitting address. A
bountious- lunch was served. -

Commerce, friends • and rela-
tives attended froiti Detroit,
Stratford, Mitchell,.. . Seaforth
and surrounding district.
Quite a number from here at-
tended the annual' commence-
ment exercises at, the Mitchell
District High School, Friday eve-
ning. Larry Kistner was pre-
sented with a special school
letter and the IOOF prize .for
the highest academic standing.
Richard Leonhardt received a
special school letter for leader-
ship.
Gloria Diegel and Ruthann
Diegel each received Dominion -
Provincial Buraries.
Those receiving . ' secondary
school graduation diplomas from
here were: Gloria Diegel, Ruth=
anti Diegel; Maynard Hoegy;
David Leonhardt and Shirley"

graduation diplomas were Al-
lan French, Barbara Hoegy and
Larry Kistner..
Brodhagen Centennial Chefs
met at the home of Phyllis Ah-
rens. Eleven members answered
the roll call question "a coun-
try I would like to visit 'and
why". Among the answers were
Britian, France, Italy, Switzer-
land and Germany. The leaders
lead a discussion on foods from
the Orient, involving suer' del-
icacies as sweet and sour spare=
ribs, egg rolls, bamboo shoots,
water chestnuts and sukiyaki.
One famous Indian dish which
has come to Canada is Indian
Curry.
During the group work,- Don-
na iIeonhardt and Joyce Vock
assisted Mrs. Elligsen in mak=
ing almond cakes. Joanne Ellig-
sen and Mrs. Brown demonstra-
ted the -preparation of steak
and spinach, Chinese style Both'
of these foods originated in the
Orient.
Flower's were placed on the
altar of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church on 'Sunday in loving
memory of the late Edwin Mogk
by his wife and family.

Mrs. Edwin Scherbarth who
recently moved to Mitchell and
for Mrs, Peel Boyd who moved
away in the summer.

received word Saturday of the
death of a distant cousin, Mr
Ken Cole at Oshawa. -

ure", concerning the Indians in
Canada. Mrs. Seegmiller spoke
on "Witness" and gave. as ,en
example, the work of Dr. Paul
Brandt with the-Le-pers.

The 'Hi C meeting was held
in Northside Church on Sun-
day evening with nineteen pre-
sent. The meeting discussed the
sale of names for the birthday
calendar and sending delegates
to the Toc Alphaconference in
the Christmas holidays.
The topic was taken by Chris-
tine Turnbull and Karen Hen-
derson, Discussion was on the
scripture of Noah's,,. Ark and a
modern' day version. •
