The Centennial committee
were most gratified at the ter-
rific response to the invitations
sent out for this important ev-
ent and feel that much of the
credit for the success ^of the
day should go °to the United
Church Women whose planning
and provision of the lunch after
both services permitted so many
to enjoy• a longer fellowship
with friends `and relatives, They
appreciated the help given by
those doing the decorating and
setting up the, amplification
system. •

Happy Citizensmet in the
Legions Hall with six tables of
euchre playing. The winners
were high, Mrs. Reta Orr, lone.

meeting will be . held on the
afternoon of November 8. '

in 'Hibbert
Slight decreases In total as-
sessment and in population hi
Hibbert were revealed when
the 1967 assessment roll teas
submitted to the October meet-
ing of council.
Presented by the Assessor,
Donald Kernick, the roll showed
a total taxable assessment of
$2,738,910, down $2,190 from
the 1966 assessment and the
population of 1,627 -lower by 11.
A total' of $25.00 was donated
to the Perth • Leunty Plowing
Match to be. distriibuted to• the
Hibbert Township ddnpetitors,
each prize not to exceed $5.00.
The Mitchell Fire Area by-
law was amended to include the
extra lots in Hibbert to 'be ser-
viced by the Mitchell Fire area.
The Hoggarth Drain report
was read at a special •meeting
of council but hot adopted, but
to be held until further word
is received from the Engineer
S. W. Archibald, P.Eng.
Court of Revision was closed
on the Gardiner Municipal
Drain with-' no appeals to be
heard.
The petition for interim road
subsidy *as signed in the
amount of $78,264.62 being the
amount spent from Jan. 1st, to
Sept. 30, 1967.
Road accounts for $11,550.69
and general accounts for $1,-
238.03 were • ordered mid.

One of the largest crowwds
of the season attended the Sea -
forth Legion bingo on Friday
evening: The bingo is sponsored
by Branch 156, with -proceeds
going towards welfare work.

group one in charge of the
worship. Mrs. Bill McAsh gave
the call to worship and a hymn
was sung with Mrs, John Mc -
Ash as pianist. Mrs. Bob Web-
ster read the scripture and' re-
ceived the offering. The medi-
tation was given by Mrs. Bill
McAsh. Mrs. Bill Taylor pre-
sented the study book- and read
a poem, "Give Thanks to God".

and the meeting was turned
over 'tor the president Mrs.
Mervin Hayter for the business.
After the secretary and treas-
urer's reports, thank you notes
were read from Mrs. M. Mor-

November 9. Mrs. Ruth Johns-
