A special meeting was held at the church on M o n d a y night for the UCW members The ladies have decided to keep the U.C.W. open at the _Constance church. OBITUARY .THOMAS A. BEATTIE Thomas A. Beattie, -88, died Thursday at Westminster Hos- pital, London. He had been in failing health for several years. Born in McKillop, he was a son of the late Thomas Beattie and Margaret Smith. For. many years until his re- tirement, he was caretaker of the Seaforth Post Office and was a familiar figure on Main Street. Interested in sports he managed a number of Seaforth ball teams and never hesitated to contribute his time to aiding community activities. A veter- an of the First War, he. was a life member of 'Seafdrth Branch 156 Royal Canadian Legionand members attended a Legion ser- vice Friday evening. •-•-• He was a member -of First 'Presbyterian Church. His wife, the former Eliza- beth Grieve, predeeased him in 1058. • Surviying.dee a daughter, Miss Margaret, Stratford; brother, Robert, Winthrop; sisterS, Mrs. Stanley (Agnes) Garnham, Mrs. Edward (Margaret) Case, both of Seaforth and two grandsons. A son Elmer died a number of years ago. The funeral service was con- ducted by his minister, Rev. D. 0. Fry at the G. A. Whitney fun- eral home, at 2 p.m., Saturday.
