weiss Rebekah Lodge, Monday
evening with the noble grand

Vice -grand Miss Eleanor Hen-
derson, gave a report of a com-
mittee meeting held concern-
ing the Youth Pilgrimage to the
United Nations. She also re-
ported on cards sent out and
visitations made.
A donation was made to the
Muscular Dystrophy appeal. Ad
ditional cups and saucers are to
be purchased to bring the num-
ber up to eight dozen. Mrs.
Joseph Grummett was named
treasurer to succeed Mrs. K.
Sharp. - .
• The travelling gavel is to be
presented. to Huronic Lodge,
Clinton, on Oct. 16, by members
of Edelweiss Lodge. Mrs. Jas.
Rose gave an account of Assem-
bly sessions held in Toronto.

deputy president for Huron and
staff of Clinton are to install
the officers here Oct. 23. '

bara Kirkman Auxiliary of First
Church, Tuesday evening. The
Glad Tidings prayer was read
by Mrs. R. K. McFarlane and
the scripture lesson by Mrs. Har-
old Whyte. The collection was
received' by Mrs. Ada Dale. Mrs.
Dale Nixon took over the meet-
ing and- told of the life of the
Indians. Some have become law-
yers, teachers and councillors.
She also mentioned the school at
Millie, Manitoba and an Indian
woman, 100 years old who had
been a Christian since she was
49 years of w.

OBITUARY
.THOMAS A. BEATTIE
Thomas A. Beattie, -88, died
Thursday at Westminster Hos-
pital, London. He had been in
failing health for several years.
Born in McKillop, he was a
son of the late Thomas Beattie
and Margaret Smith.
For. many years until his re-
tirement, he was caretaker of
the Seaforth Post Office and
was a familiar figure on Main
Street. Interested in sports he
managed a number of Seaforth
ball teams and never hesitated
to contribute his time to aiding
community activities. A veter-

life member of 'Seafdrth Branch

members attended a Legion ser-
vice Friday evening. •-•-•
He was a member -of First
'Presbyterian Church.
His wife, the former Eliza-
beth Grieve, predeeased him
in 1058. •
