The Winthrop Wingers dow-
ned Wellesley 11-7 on Friday'
night in Wellesley. Wellesley
gained three runs in the first
inning with Joyce Roe gaining
1 for Winthrop. Wellesley ad-
ded 1 in the second with Shei-
la Dietz and Betty McGregor
each scoring for the winners
to make the score 4-3 for Wel-
lesley. No runs were scored
hi the 3rd. Wellesley gained
1 run in the 4th and Winthrop
-1 in the 5th. Winthrop broke
loose in thesixth gaining 7
runs to. Wellesley's 2 bringing
•the final score to 11-7 for
Winthrop;

The Walton Women's Insti-
tute met in the C$nzmunity
Hall with • the president, Mrs.
Jan Van Vliet presiding. Mrs.
Rae. Huether was pianist for
the meeting. The roll •call was
answered with the name of a
famous person born on a
farm.
The president expressed her
thanks to those who organized
and planned the bus trip to•
the convention at Guelph„ She
also expressed her. apprecia,
tion to all who helped in any
way with the float in. the par-
ade at Ethel at the Grey Cen-
tennial.

ed St. Columban by the score
of 5-2 on Saturday.
In the first half Harry Ryan
scored a goal and the first
half ended 1-0- for St. Colum -
ban.
Shorty after the start of the
second half Gerald Ryan scor-
ed to make it 2-0 but from
then op it was all Sarnia.. Max
bagger.' scored the first goal

Centennial . Gates opened
A feature of Saturday's progran at the Lions Carnival was the opening of the Centennial
Gates to Lions Park. The gates are the centennial project of Tuckersmith Township and were
built in co-operation with the Seaforth Lions Club. Reeve Elgin Thompson (right) of Tucker -

Huron •County Plowmen met last week to round up business left over from last year's
International Plowing Match held on Scott FarmS, north of Seaforth. First they toured the
farm where the match was held, then• went to Lions Park for a dinner meeting. Seen above
