Centennial Day on Saturday,
July 8. The paradeis scheduled
fur 1 p.m. and an afternoon and
evening program will be held,
ball games, games of chance
'and a dance. We hope to see
a large attendance. Lots of
booths.
On Wednesday pupils from
SS No. 7, grades 1 to 4, had a
bus trip with their teacher
Mrs. Blanche McLean in charge.
They had a hike through a na-
tive forest near Ayr, toured the
Kitchener Fire Department and
CKCO - TV Station.. The stu-
dents also appeared on Big Al's
Ranch Party.
Pupils from SS No. 4 Logan
under the supervision of Mrs.
Olive $ienion,, grades 5 to 8,
went to Bob Lo Island and the
Detroit Zoo on' Wednesday;,
June 28.

A Centennial service was held
at St. Peter's Lutheran Church
on- Sunday.. with Rev. H. Lossing
officiating. Larry Kintner sang
the Centennial hymn accompan-
ied by the organist, Mrs. Lorne
Mueller. -
Mrs. Doug Aitchison and fam-
ily, .Niagara Falls, are spending
a few weeks with her parents,
Mr, and Mrs. Edwin Rock, here.
Mr. Aitchison is teaching sum-
mer school at Western Universi-
ty in London.
A shower was 'held at the
community hall on Wednesday
for Mr. and Mrs, Wayne Pepper
(Carolyn Mathers). Russell Ron-
ey read the address and the
newly married couple were pre-
sented with a gift of money. •
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Beuer-
nian and Jeffrey, London, oc-
companied Mr. and Mrs.. Man-
uel Beuerman to visit Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Beuerman and family
in Kitchener on Sunday.
Mrs. Rachael Ahrens and
Mrs. Caroline Elligsen accom-
panied Mr. and Mrs. George
Wesenberg and girls, Brussels,
to visit Mr. and Mrs. Chris
Leonhardt in Seaforth on Sun-
day.
The sympathy -`of the..commun-
ity is extended to the families of
both Mrs. Edward Prueter -and
Mrs. Jacob fiigenell.
Mr. and Mrs: Ray Bennewies,
London, visited at the .home of
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nor-
man Bennewies last Monday.
Mrs. Calvin Gilck and girls
spent a few days this week with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aug-
ust Scherbarth. Frank Scher-
barth, Trenton also visited at
the same home.
Scherbarth Reunion
Mr: • and Mrs. Mac Townsend
were hosts for the 14th annual
reunion of the. Charles Scher -
berth family on June 25th at
the Brodhagen Community Cen-
tre. Seventy-eight members en-
joyed a smorgasbord dinner
with Pat and Sue Scherbarth the
conveners.
The president, Pastor Calvin
Gilck, conducted the business
when " the following were ap-
pointed: president, Edward
Scherbarth, Jr.; • secretary -trea-
surer, Dorothy Elligsen; lunch
conveners, Margaret Scherbarth
and Velma Prueter; sports com-
mittee, Barb and Charles Scher-
barth, Joanne Elligsen and Lyle
Prueter.
During the. afternopn sports
for the children were held with
Ivan, Elaine and ,James Scher-
barth in charge. .
Prizes were given to Mr. and
-qrs. . Edward . Seherbarth,for
the first Canadian car' at the
reunion; Mr. and Mrs. William
Stender for perfect .attendance
having come from a distance;
and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scher -
berth for the most recent par-
ents.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Scherbarth
will be hosts for the 1968 re-
union which is, being , planned
for July 7th at the Brodhagen
Community Centre.
Church vacation school will
be held this summer from July
17-21; beginning at 9 a.m. un-
der supervision of Mrs. Doro-
thy,Elligsen. and.•Mrs. Margaret
Scherbarth. Anyone in the com-
munity and surrounding area
have a. cordial invitation to 'at-

MRS." EDWARD J. PRUETER
Mrs. Edward J. Prueter, of.
Brodhagen; died Tuesday at the'
Kilbarchan Nursing Home, Sea -
forth, at the age of 84 years.
She was the former Emma Ben-
newies and was predeceased'by
her husband in 1966. She was
a member of St. -Peter's Luth-
eran :Church, Brodhagen.
, The late Mrs. Prueter Is sur-
vived by one son, Lloyd, Logan
Township, three daughters, ..Mrs.

James' Roman Catholic Church
on' Saturday, June 17, 1967. at
2:04 p.m. Reverend Father i,ar-
agh officiated. The, church was
decorated with an assortment
of mums with gladioli,
The organist, Mrs. Alice Stiles
accompanied a men's choir who
sang traditional wedding 'music.
The bride was given in mar-
riage by her father. She chose
a formal ligoda gown in demi
fit effect with a sOldina neck-
line, enhanced with re -embroid-
ered lace, in floral pattern to'
match the lace on the hem. The•
watteau panel was ligoda with
an inset of , matching lace. Her
headpiece consisted of petals
and 'pearls with a bouffant veil.
She carried a bouquet of Pink
.roses.

was her sister's maid of honor.
Mrs. William Gallow of Goderich
Miss Dianne Lansink, sisters of
the bride and Miss Janet 'Turn-
bull, both of Seaforth, were
bridesmaids. They wore match-
ing silk slianhung gowns in mint
green With scoop neckline, em-
pare waist and Aline • skirt
trimmed with Guipure lace. The

forth Community Centre follow-
ing the ceremony.
The mother of the bride re-
ceived the guests in a blue
sheath dress of crimp knit with
matching jacket and navy ac-
cessories, She Wore a corsage
of orange tinge roses.
The mother of the groom're-
ceived, wearing a powder bine
silk shantung ensemble with
fitted coat and dress. The un-
•derdress was sleeveless. She
wore a matching hat' and beige
accessories. `
For a wedding trip to North-,
ern Ontario, • the ,bride travel-
led in an A-line white, dress
with a pink hat and matching
shoes and a corsage, of pink
roses. Mr. and Mrs Horanwill
reside at RR 1, Dublin. :
Guests were present front De-
troit, Lindsay, Georgetown, Kit-
chener, Goderich, Dublin and
Holland.
Prior to her marriage the
bride was entertained at a
number of showers. Mrs,, Pani
Betties entertained Wendt and
members of the batik staiff.

The funeral was held Friday
at St.- Peter's Lutheran, Church,
with Rev. H. Lossing officiating
and burial was in, the adjoining
cemetery.

Ahrens, Toronto, Robert and
Ken Ahrens, Hamilton, were the
pallbearers.
MRS. 'JACOB HIGENELL
Mrs. Jacob Higenell, Mitchell,
died Tuesday at the Kilbar-
chan Nursing Home in Seaforth.
She 'was the widow of the late
Mr. Higenell who died in 3955;
She was the former Wilhelmina
Rudolph and is survived • by
four daughters, ;Mrs. George
(Frieda), Siemon, Logan Town-
ship; Mrs. Edwin (Laura) Rock,
Brodhagen; Mrs. John (Ella)
Ford, London; and Mrs. Robert
(Edna)' Butson;' Mitchell; 18
grandchildren and 32 great
grandchildren..
The funeral- was held Satur-
day at First Lutheran Church,
Logan Township, with Rev. Pat-
zor in charge of the service.
Burial was made in the‘ -adjoin-
ing cemetery.
Pallbearers were Reg, Gerald'
and `Donald- Butson, Mitchell;
:Roy and Kenneth Siemon, Lo-
gan Township and Wayne Ford,
.London: Mourners attended
from Kitchener, Waterloo, Nia-
gara Falls„ New 'Hamburg,.

surrounding district.

McDougall she lived, in the Tiv-
erton area, until. his . death in
1951. In 1965 she 'married Ster-
ling Fraser who survives, also

son of Underwood and Mrs.
Charles Colton of Leamington;
eight, grandchildren and .two
great grandchildren. Mrs. Fras-
er was in her 74th year. Her
death came as a great shock to
her many old friends here and
in Tiverton.

man Auxiliary of First Church
present at the Pot -luck supper
which was served on the lawn
of Mrs. W. R. Kerslake's sum-
mer home 'at Bayfield.
Mrs. kC. Reith presided and
Mrs. K. Sharp was secretary.
The meeting was in charge of
Mrs. W. A. Wright and Mrs.- El-
mer Rivers, who presented the
study book,, the subject being
"The Church in the Western
Provinces." The early days were
difficult and the ministers had
to be hardy, men who fought
the blizzards and hard limes.
Mrs. Mae Dorrance, reed the
scripture lesson and Miss-Flor-•
ence Laidlaw closed with pray-
er.
