NOTES .
(By F. C. J. Sills)
Last week saw a very en
thusiastiq meeting of the
Chamber of Commerce Par-
ade Committee when they sat
down to plan for the Parade
on Labour Day when the Ar-
ena Centennial project will
have its' official opening. If
everything goes to plan it
should be a grand parade
with historical,, humorous, mil-
itary and ethnic floats partici-
pating.
float can contact
nEd Tay -
tor, tor, Elmer Larone, or Mrs.
Jean Henderson. Now Is the
time to plan.
This week will see the jud-
ging . of the- Beard Grow'ing
Contest at the Lions Club Car-
nival so some of the boys hid-
ing •behind. a bush will be com-
ing out into the open. I under-
stand that some others are
still going to retain theirs for
A while becau "sb it is still cen-
tennial year and their foliage
is quite appropriate for the
season.
The Lions Cldab have put an
extra effort into their Carni-
vaI this year so it should
prove to be a gala affair. How-
eyer these events are only as
flood as those who turn out
k participate so be sure, to
attend.
Last week the Town Fath-
ers put on a .very successful
party for the Intermediate
Hockey Team and made a pre-
sentation to them along with
medals from the O.H.A. This
team has established a record
of winning 3 years in a row
and are to be congratulated.
Incidentally another feature
of,the night was the presence
of some of.the hockey players
of fonder years, in particular
Russell (Rusty Hays', Joe Sills,
Alex Muir and Reg Reid.
There are really a lot of ex -
hockey players that perform-
ed ter Seaforth over the years
and maybe sometime that
could be a project in Itself col-
lecting them together. 'Once
