Cleary, 53, 'ef Kew Hamburg, died :.Frldey in Tor- onto.. General Hospital, after a brief illness. - Born at Seaforth, he was the son of Mrs. Mary (Keeler Cleary) Anderson and the late Peter Cleairy. Ile had lived New Hamburg since 1939. Mr. Cleary was a machinist with the Hahn Biwa Co. there. fle was a member of Holy Family. Roman Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and the local. school board. He was service bureau officer' for Royal Canadian Legion Branch 532. He served with the Canadian army during the Second World War. He is survived by his wife, the former Anne Skidmore, whom he married in 1942; five sons, Francis of Kitchener; Al- fred, Robert, John and Paul, all at home; • and a daughter, Pauline, at home. The body was at the Bruce J. Omand funeral' home, New Hamburg. Requiem high mass was celebrated Tuesday at Holy. Family Roman Ciatholic Church at 14 a.m. Burial was in Holy Family cemetery. , A Royal Canadian Legion memorial service was held Sun- day and prayers were said by the Holy Name Society, on Sun- day. James Dalrymple was first in the- intermediate divi- sion and Doug Dalrymple was senior champion.'- ' Wide participation and keen competition caused five old re- cords, to tumble. Carol Bell set anew junior record in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet, one-half inch: Rita Van Doren broke the shot put record with• a 26' 5" heave. Boys also set records. The old junior boys shot put record fell to Bob Pryce with a 38' 6" throw. Garry Nicholson set a new intermediate discus record at 112' 2". Miss Connie Eck ert, a• bride -elect. The program was conducted by Mrs. -Francis Coleman • who welcomed 'the guests- and ex- plained the method of the tel, ent show to follow."Miss Jane Sills and Miss Jean Devereaux sang a duet, "The Wedding", • accompanied by Miss . Angela Devereaux at the -piano. The friends were divided, in- to ten groups with each group acting out a particular farm scene. Three judges decided on the best three groups and prizes were distributed, Miss Mary Jean Fry and Miss Sandra Coleman sang a duet, "I Believe" at the close of the program With Sandra being ac- companist. Miss Eckert with her mother, Mrs. Con. Eckert and Mrs. Mur- ray were seated at the front of the hall on chairs decorated for the occasion. An address was read by Mrs. John Middegal. Many lovely and useful gifts were opened and displayed on tables suitably arranged. Con- nie in a gracious manner, thank - d the gathering for the lovely .gifts and those who arranged the evening. During the eve- ning a bride's book prepared in advance, -was 'circulated among the group. A delicious lunch was served and a social hour enjoyed.
