annual banquet and presenta-
tion of awards on Saturday
night at (.;1413 Clinton.

next season and Art Finlayson

retary and/ treasurer respective-
ly.

Doug McVeigh, (Judy 'Printer),
was solomnized;'at Et. Peter's
Lutheran Church on, Friday eve-
ning by Rev. H. I4ossing. The
reception followed', later at the
Comanunity, Hall.
• Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sholdice,
Paul, Mark and Judy were guests
of Mr. and -Mrs. Xen Burchill,
in Mitchell on Sunday.

Homemaking Club attended
achievement day at Milverton
High School on Saturday. 'Shiela
Dietz was commentator for the
exhibit "Finishes fbr sleeping
garments". Twelve members
completed the 'project "Sleep-
ing Garments".

Lavern Wolfe has been a pat-
ient at the Cortununity Hospital
in Seaforth during the past
week.
• A Golden Age Club (fellow-
ship) began Wednesday night
at St. Peter's Lutheran Church:
Pastor Herbert Gastmaier of
Stratford was master of cere-
monies. It is an eVening, for
those whose ' children. have
grown up and now find they
appreciate an evening.,of 'fel-
lowship and goodly conversa-
tion.
Flowers were on4the altar of
St. Peter's Lutheran Chttreh on
Sunday morning from the Mc-
Veigh-Trutter wedding Friday
evening. Also a basket., of flow-
ers from the funeral of the late
Frank Josling. ••

The annual meeting of the
Varna Library was held Wed-
nesclay evening tit the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Taylin.; The
librarian, Miss Edith Beatty,
read the treasurer's report and
told of the library membersbt
and lbook eirculation of th
past year. The library ,eoinmit-
tee is Mrs. George Reid, Mrs.
H. Elliott, Mrs. Bill Taylor, Miss
Edith _Beatty, Mis. Bill McAsh
and Mrs. Bill Dciwson, chairinan.
After the meeting, lunch was
servedby Mrs. Taylor,
Thursday evening. the, Varna

group two in Charge of the wor-
ship. Mrs. IL- Hayter -opennd
the meeting and Mrs. Grant
Webster. and Mrs. 'Roy Elliott
read the scripture. Mrs. H. Hay-
ter gave the meditation and led
in prayer. A film, "By the King,
A Proclamation" was osttown by
Rev. Morrison: The study bOok
on "The Church Grows In can-
ada!' was - given by Mr. Wat
Webster. Special guests of the
evening were Mrs. Metentie
and Mrs. Scott. A plant sale with
Mrs. F. Reid of Clinton as auc-
tioneer Was held

A dedivation"service was held
at the church on Sunday morn-
ing to dedicate the new church
organ. John McAsh was honor-
ed during the service for serv-
ing as an elder during the past
50 years. 'Fred McClymOnt told
of the many ways the McAsh
family_ have_ serwl)._ the church
in the past years. Sherlock Keys
presented 'Mr. McA,sh With a
Bible on behalf of the session
and' AilrDowson presented- hini
with a plaque suitably engrav-
ed for the occasion on behalf
of the congregation. .
Mr. and .Mrs. Lee McConnell
and Mrs. Bill McAsif have re-
turned from, a fur day bus
trip to Expo in Montreal.
Mr. and Mrs. Anson Coleman
of Clinton attended Sunday mor-
ning services at the Varna Un-
ited' Church and visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Johnston
of Seaforth visited on Sunday
with Mr. and NM: Mervin Joh-
sten and Shirley. They alsb• at-
tended the service at the Unit=
,ed Church and visited with Mrs,
Creorge Reid.
We are -Sorry to report that
Mi.. Charles Pilgrim is at pre-
sent a patient at the Clinton
Hospital and we wish him a
speedy recovery.
