During the last few weeks a
Special committee composed of
representatives of various or-
ganizations in the district have
been busy planning the 'Labor
Day opening of the Seaforth
Centennial • project, I' refer to
the new front on the Community
Centre.
The eco -operation has been ex-
cellent. So' far we have the
Chamber of , Con nnerce looking
after the parade. The ' Junrot;
Farmers, ladies -and gents div-
isions, willingto look after
sports for both old and young
in the afternoon. The Agricul-
tural Society is taking' On a
Bar;B-Que and Bacon burger in
order to feed the masses. The
Women's Institute are looking
after an historical display in
the Arena. The Town Council
and Arena Board will take care
of the official opening which
will Combine with a 25 gun dem-
onstration by the Wingham
Battery under the command of
Col. John Harvey. The Centen-
nial committee will look after
the entertainment and have en-
listed' the support of the Square
Dance group as well ..as a dem
onstration of Dutch dancing by
a Dutch group under the leader-
ship of John Segeren, and Harry
Hak. Royce Rhiel and his Conn.'
try Cousins will provide music'
for general dancing and every-
one is requested to corne in per-
iod costume. All in all, with the
help of -the general public, it
should turn out to be a very
enjoyable affair.
By the way, don't forget two
events coming up' in the near
future. The play "Here Comes
Charlie", sponsored • by the
Friendship -Circle of the Pres-
byterian Church will take place
Thursday and Friday nights of.
May llth and 12th in the Sea -
forth Public School.
"Portraits of the Past" spon-
sored by the Women's Institute
will take place on Monday night
May -15th in the High School, ._
'Try to attend .both- affairs
folks because I'm quite sure
you will enjoy both events,_
SS No. 9 McKillop will cele-
brate • their 100tH anniversary
on July 1st and invitations are
extended to all old students.
When it is over perhaps they
could finish the day by attend~
ing the Lions Carnival which
will be extending over three
days at that time.

Sunday .to mark the 85th birth-
day of;, Mrs. Mary Loretto Duf-
fy, McKillop, at the. home of
her son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Duffy, al-
so of McKillop..
Mrs, Duffy is a daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. John O'-
Reilly. She was married at St.
Columban Church, to William
Duffy. The •couple farmed all
their 'lives in' McKillop. Mr.
Nifty, died in- February, 1957.
Mrs. Duffy enjoys good health
and does her own housework.
Besides her son, Robert, she
has' another son, Louis- of Mc-
Killop, with wham ..she resides;
also "four daughters, ,.Mrs. El-
don (Mary) O'Brien, RR 5, Clip,•
ton; Mrs. Alvin. (Esther) Rau,

when two classes of livestock
were judged and reasons were
given by the senior members.
John Murphy the summer assis-
tant, gave a lesson on how in-
heritance. works followed by a
quiz. Bill Wallace thanked Mr.
Devereaux for the use of his
farm. •
