Chairman for the evening was Mrs. John Henderson, who cal. led on Mrs. Mac Wilson and Mr. William Pepper for a violin sel- ection, accompanied by Mrs. Leilla Neale of London at the piano. Mr. Sam Thomson also con tributed a 'violin number ac- companied by Miss Margaret McQueen. Rev. D. E. Stuart showed pictures of interest tak- en overseas during his service there in the RCAF. Those in costume paraded around while the judges, Rev. D. E. Stuart, Mrs. Lorne- Stanley . Unit UCW Hold Spring Meeting The Stanley Unit -UCW met at the' home of . Mrs. Stuart. Mrs. L. Wi1gon and Mrs. E. Scott were co -hostesses. Mrs. ;C. Henderson read the scripture, Psalm 95. Mrs. D. Triebner` gave the devotional and . also a prayer. Offering was taken and dedicated. Hymn 356 was followed by the Lord's Prayer son and Mrs, W. Scott :selected the different winners. Prizes were won by: best dressed old ladies costume, Mrs. John 0. Mc len; second, Mrs. Mona Caldwell; best man's costume, .John Broadfoot; .second J. `K, Cornish; best dressed couple, Mrs. Greg. McGregor. and Elgin Thompson; best dressed lady, Mrs. Stewart Wilson; best dres- sed lady comic, Mrs. D. E. Stu- art; best dressed night wear, Mrs.• Ross •Scott; second and third, Mrs. Ken Scott and Mrs. m'Alice Hamn. Mrs. John Broadfoot thanked• all who helped to make the eve- ning a success and invited all to an old time lunch featuring biscuits and 'cheese, scones, sugar cookies, ginger snaps and in unison. The topic being on Centennial, many of the members were in centennial dress: The meeting opened with a pot -luck supper; Tuekersmith members catering to Stanley members. Mrs. Dorothy McGreg- or cGregor . president, took the business part of the meeting. Mrs. Joyce Wilson, Mrs. Hel- en Butdge and Mrs. Olive Broad - foot were in charge of the study and worship. An:interesting talk on the pioneer days was given by Mrs. Joyce Wilson.• • Mrs. Anne Walters had enter- tainament.
