Have Care When
Giving Medicine
"Apply the right medicine in
'the right amount, with the right.
method, at the right time, to
"the right patient", advises Hal
Wright, Farm Safety Specialist
with the Ontario Department of
Agriculture and Food. '
' If ' this sounds' ridiculous,
think of how many people sub-
stitute a soup spoon for a table-
spoon or a :teacup for a mea-
suring cup. If tableware is more
convenient to u, e, first check it
against the measuring equip-
ment used, in baking, Mr. Wright
suggests. This can be done by
putting water in the dinner
spoon (or teacup)'and then
pouring it into the measuring
spoon (or measuring cup).
If you've forgotten to give
the patient his medicine at the
right time, don't double the
next dose without' consulting
your doctor first.
The. wrong dose could do
. more harm than good.
