Wednesday afternoon at Cavan
Presbyterian Church, Exeter,
with Mrs. Mervin Dunn, Mrs,
Arthur Rundle, Mrs. Bruce
Tuckeyy, Mrs. Ed. Sillery, Mrs.
Edwin Miller and Mrs, Glenn
Stewart as hostesses. The meet-
ing was chairedby president
Mrs. Mac Hodgert. Forty-five
members answered the roll
call with "Did You Know?"
Mrs. Cornelius Faber, Mrs.
Maurice Love, Mrs. Richard
Etheringtoi_l, Mrs. Elmore Pass-
more, Mrs. Alvin Moir, Mrs. Wil-
liam Lamport were named 4-H
leaders.
On Thanksgiving Sunday in
Thames Road United Church,
Hurondale and Eliniville W.I.
will hold a Centennial service
when former residents will take
part.
Mrs. Elmore Passmore was
named delegate to attend offi-
cers' conference in Guelph in'
May.
Mrs. Robert Mauer convener
of Citizenship and Education
took the chair for the program.
Mrs. Wm. Dougall presented the
motto, "Take Time to Read, it
is highway of knowledge",

Church
'Annual •
The annual congregational
meeting of Hensall United
Church was preceeded by a pot-
luck dinner on Wednesday. Fol-
lowing dinner a sing -song was
led by Mrs. James McAllister
with Miss Greta Lammie at the
piano. Preceeding the business
meeting a short program was
presented • with . Mrs. Rodger
Venner , reading an original
poem, Mrs. Dave Kyle a humor-
ous reading and- a piano instru-
mental by Mrs. Robert Pryde.
The devotional period conduct-
ed by Rev. Harold F. Currie
included a silent tribute to
those who have passed away
since the last annual meeting.
The business .meeting was
chaired by the Minister and Wil-
liam Mickle clerk of the congre-
gation was secretary. The re-
ports for the past year's work
and its organizations were pre-
sented in printed form. They
indicated an increase in Stew-
-ardship of time, ability and pos-
sessions to the life and work of
the Church.
The 1966 'Missionary and
Maintenance budggt was met
and exceeded over 1965, as -well
as the local treasury of the
Church. The Session report . was
presented by Walter Spencer,
clerk..
• The' nominating committee'
consisting of -James McGregor,
Robert Caldwell, Jack -Simmons
and Eric Mansfield were author-
ized to fill .vacancies on the
committee of Stewards.
Edison Forrest was elected to
a three ; year term as. Clerk of
the Congregation.
The 1967 budget pre.pared
the finance committee and pre-
sented by the convener James
McGregor, was accepted by the
congregation. In 1967 the con-
gregation will be enrolled on
the "Every Family Plan" to re-
ceive the official -Church paper,
"The United Church Observer."
Rev. Currie expressed apprec-
iation to all members • and es-
pecially to the officials for their
leadership in the affairs of the
Church during the past year.
Mr. and Mrs, Victor Pyette
paid tribute to the minister and
his wife on behalf of the con-
gregation.

held a successful dessert
euchre and bake sale in Hensall
Legion Hall, Wednesday, which
netted $55.00. Nineteen tabls
were in play for the euchre.

shoe race at Hensall Kinsmen's
Centennial Winter Carnival on
Friday of next week.
Activities on Friday • include
old tyme dancing at local
arena. At a dance that night
Kinsmen will crown the snow
queen, contestants being spon-
sored by Hensall businessmen.
Saturday events include a par-
ade at 1 ° p.m. from Hensall
Town 1 -fall, which will tour the
back streets while there will be
no prizes for floats, • Kinsmen
will appreciate entries for the
parade.
At the park, pony cutter races,
snow shoe races, snow mobile
races- and log cutting contest
will be featured for which cash
prizes will be awarded. As an
added attraction Saturday morn-
ing _there,' .will be. judging of
snow men made by the child-
ren of the town.

or. The Kinettes will have a
float in the Kinsmen Winter Car-
nival parade and a booth at the
Hensall Centennial Festivities,
July 1st. The raffle was wop by
Mrs. Ron Wareing. A social

RILEY - STINSON
Hensall United Church was
the setting for a pretty wedding
Friday, January 27th, at 7 p.m.,
when Susan Sharon Stinson and
Leslie James Riley exchanged
marriage vows before the Rev.
Harold F. Currie. The bride is
the daughter of Mr. William
Stinson of RR 1, Hensall and the
groom is the son of M.S. Eliza-
beth Riley of Hensall.'
Given in marriage by her fath-
er, the bride wore a street -
length gown of white rayon, A-
line, with metalic silver threads
throughout the gown, sleeveless
and fashioned with a boat col-
lar, large black rimmed hat,
with black accessories, with a
corsage of red roses. Maid ,of
honor Miss Patricia 'Harris of
RR 1, Cromarty, chose a street -
length dress Of ice, blue, styled
with lace bodice' and crepe
skirt, black rimmed hat and
accessories of black, her cor-
sage was pink roses.
Mr. William Noakes of Hen-
sall was groomsman.
The wedding reception was
held in the' Legion Hall, Hen-
sall. The young couple will re-
side in the Fink Apartments on
Nelson -Street.
