iary were held Friday evening

Growing
Unity
A New Year's message was
given by Rev. Harold Currie at
the January meeting of United
Church Women unit four, held
in. Fellowship Hall,. Hensall
United Church, Thursday after-
noon. Rev. Currie spoke on the
growing sense of our unity in
Christ in this nation which was
in keeping with the Centennial
year in Canada. Mr. Currie was
thanked by Mrs. Jarvis 'Horton.
Mrs. Albert Alexander present-
ed the devotional. In the trea-
surer's report submitted by
Mrs. T. J. Sherritt it *as re-
vealed that the allocation had
been met for 1966.
. Members reported a total of
65 calls on sick and shut-ins.
Mrs. James McAllister pre-
sided for the meeting and thank -
members who helped fill Christ-
mas stockings for the men at
the Ontario 'Hospital, Goderich.
The annual quilting bee will
take place in February. Mrs.
McAllister conducted a Biblical
quiz, and Mrs. Elgin Rowcliffe
and her coml:nittee served a
cup of tea.

Entertains Rebekahs
The regular meeting of Am-
ber• Rebekah Lodge was held
Wednesday evening, presiding
for the meeting was Noble
Grand Mrs. Lindsay .Eyre, when
plans were outlined for a birth-
day party in February when
Clinton and Seaforth Lodges
will be invited 'guests.

Brodhagen, student from Sea -

chosen to attend the United
Nations in New York, 'sponsor-
ed by the" Oddfellows and Reb-

Wins Suit
At the regular meeting of
Hensall Lodge IOOF 223, on
Thursday night, a draw for an
$85.00 suit of clothes was won
by W. D. Gilbert of Alsia Craig.
Robert Parsons of Staffa drew
the winning ticket.

in South Huron Hospital, Exe-
ter,
Mrs. Fred Beer is a patient
in South -Huron Hospital.
Mr. Duncan•Stewart of Huron -
view, formerly of Hensall, will
on Saturday, January 14th, ob-
serve his 100th birthday.
Albert Brenzil of . Wingham
was the winner of $25.00 in a
draw at Reid's--Texaco Service -
Station recently, sponsored by
Hensall. Kinsmen Club.
Miss Cassie Dougall is a pat-
ient in South Huron Hospital.

sponsored by Hensall Kinsmen
Club. During the past twelve
weeks twelve lucky winners
have won $25.04 each in week-
ly draws, with this week end-
ing_ the draws with. a grand
winner of $500.00.

Mr. and Mrs. Clendoir Chris-
tie, who have operated the 5c
to $1.00 for eleven years, have
sold their business to Mr. and
Mrs. John G. Wallace of Exeter
who get immediate possession.

the office of Joseph McConnell.
Hold Open House
Mr. and Mrs. William Cole
held open house for their rela-
tives, friends and neighbors at
their home, Saturday afternoon,
on the occasion of their fiftieth
wedding anniversary. The many
guests were received' by Mr.
and Mrs. Cole amid a flqral
background of golden bells and
gold and yellow mums. The tea
table, covered with a lace cloth
centered a bowl of gold mums
flanked with gold candelabra
and a three tier wedding cake.
Pouring tea were Mrs. William
Kyle and serving were Mrs. J.
S. Bell of Kippen, assisted by
Mrs. Wilfred Annis of Dublin
and Mrs. John Templeman, of
Staffa.
