LADIES' AID MEET
Mrs. F. Kling presided at the
first meeting of the year of
the Ladies Aid of First Presby-
terian Church, • Tuesday after-
noon in the Centennial room,
with 22 members present. Mrs.
'Harold Agar read the scripture
lesson and Mrs. W. Coleman led
in prayer. Mrs. Reg Kerslake
read the minutes and, annual
report. Mrs. R. K. McFarlane
read letters of appreciation to
the Ladies' Aid and 'Rev. D, O.
Fry for the boxes sent to shut-
ins. Miss Jean Scott read the
treasurer's report. The annual
meeting will be preceeded with
a pot luck supper on Wednesday
Jan. 18th. The guest speaker
was Rev. D. 0, Fry who outlined
the plans of the Centennial
program for the church. The
nation needs adventure and
faith which Wes so evident in
the pioneers of 100 years ago"
and we should be ready to act.
The motto for the Centennial is
All that, is necessary for the
triumph of evil, is that good
men, 'do Soothing," Do good, see
good and seek good by all
peoples. Mrs. Douglas Fry, ,ire,

lace band. The shoulder length
lace trimmed veil was held
by a pearl crown headpiece.

The maid of honor, Miss

„Dr., Waterloo, was dressed in
a turquoise peau de soie floor
length dress with elbow length
sleeves, trimmed with lace at
the waist and had a headdress
of yellow roses and carried a
nosegay bouquet of yellow
mums. Miss Joan Thompson,
junior bridesmaid,- sister of
the bride wore a gold - velvet
floor length gown with em-
pire waistline trimmed with
geld ribbon and had long
sleeves. She carried a nose-
gay bouquet of yellow mums.
The groomsman was' Jim
Thompson of RR 1 Londesboro
and John Steep, Clinton, was
usher. The soloist, Miss Marg-
aret Hilien sang `The Wedding.
Prayer' and `I'll Walk Beside
You' accompanied by Miss
Jean Hilien at the piano.
After the wedding a dinner
was served at thebride's home.
The bride's mother wore a
suit .of crocheted 'lace over
beige peau de soie with dark
brown access1Fries and corsage
of yellow carnations.
The groom's mother chose
a dark green 'velvet brocade
suit with matching accessories
with corsage of -yellow carna-
tions.
Guests Were present from
Sarnia, Benmiller, Seaforth,
Clinton, Waterloo and Osha-
wa.'

A pretty wedding took place
on .December 17th at 12 noon,
in the chapel, Canadian Forces
Base, Goose Bay, Labrador,
when Anne Christine Shortreed,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wal-
ter Shortreed, was united in
marriage to Mr. Colin Patrick
McKarney, son of Mr. George
McKarney and the late Mrs.
McKarney, Westville,- Nova
Scotia.
Wedding music was provided
by' the organist, Miss,Orion Col-

NOTES

Centennial Committee '
If the opening Centennial
ceremony in Seaforth is an in-
dication of what will be trans-
piring in the coming months
then we are sure it augurs well
for the future. Mr. J. L. Slattery
and his committee representa-
tives from the churches did a
fine job and are to be congrat-
ulated.
The Centennial committee is
still ready and eager to hear
about other events that organ:
izations are planning because
they all take time to . prepare
and also it would be much nic-
er to have them placed evenly
over the months:

Some events contemplated or
finalized are the ones -by the
Women's Institute, the Lions
Club, the Arena Commission.
The latter one will be in con-
nection with the_ official open-
ing of the new 'front on the
Arena, The touring Centennial
Caravan will be in Seaforth on
June 13th and plans are under
way for it under a committee
headed • by Dr. J. 0. ''Turnbull.
