The ladies lawn bowling club
opened the winter season with
an enjoyable pot luck supper at
the home of Miss Dorothy Parke
Wednesday of last week:•There
was a good attendance.

iary of First Church met in the
Centennial rodm, Tuesday, with
a good attendance. 'Mrs. Dale
Nixon was in the chair and
read the opening poem. Miss
Peggy and Mary Jean Fry sang
a Christmas . carol, "Away in a
Manger", accompanied by Mrs
John A. Cardno. Mrs. Reg. Kers-
lake gave•the treasurer's report..
Mrs. Mae Dorrance reported a
layette and .Christmas _cards
were sent to Mrs. Agnes Dick-
son. Mrs. Keith Sharp gave the
meditation as found in the
Glad Tidings and this was inter-
spersed with Christmas carols,
with Mrs. M. R. Rennie at the
piano. Mrs. R. K. McFarlane
read. three Christmas items from
the magazine, 'Ideals."
• The scripture lesson was read
by ,Miss F. Laidlaw and the
Glad Tidings, prayer was given,
by Mrs. Elmer Rivers. The col-
lection was received by Miss F.

for their Christmas meeting.
The worship service on the
Christmas story was , led by
Mrs. George Case, with Mrs.
William Church reading the
scripture from Matthew: 2..Mrs.
Case had the meditation on. the
scripture, followed by prayer.
Mrs. Case read a Christmas
story-- entitled -"The- Gift Is
Forever".
Mrs. ,Robert Dalton conducted
the business. Reports were giv-
en from the several. committees.
The new allocations were accep-
ted.
Hymn 47, "0 Come all ye
Faithful" was sung and the
meeting was closed with pray-
er by Mrs. Case.

The Seaforth Beavers played
two games within the last week
and came out with one win and
one loss.
Thursday.., night at the Sea -
forth Arena, the Beavers edged
the Orangeville Dufferins by
the,, score of 8-6, Jack MiLl-1.
wails paced the Beaver attack
with four goals while Bob
Bduttenmiller added a pair,
with single goals scored by Bob
Doig and Larry Dale. Bob Lit-
tle scored twice for the losers
with- Ray MacDonald, Bill,
Church, John Hoare and Bob
Solomon getting singles.
Tuesday night the Beavers
travelled to Hespeler and lost
a close game by a score of 7-6.
The scarewas, tied 3.3 at' the
end of the first and 4-4 after two
periods. The Beavers were out-
scored 3-2 in the final frame.
Marv. Main scored the winning
goal for Hespler with less than
one minute remaining. Ken,
Doig led the Beavers with three
goals.
