SOth Wedding Anniv�rary
..Mr. and Mrs.. Herbert Jones
of Hensall celebrated their '50th
wedding anniversary on Tues-
day, with open house; afternoon
and evening, at their home on
Queen Street, for their relatives,
friends and neighbors.
The family honored their par-
ents with a dinner at their
home Sunday and presented
them with lovely gifts.
Their marriage of 50 years
ago was solmenized .by Rev. E.
Becker at the home of the
bride's parents, the late Mrt, and
Mrs. Jacob Finkbeiner, in
Stephen Township.
Mrs. Jones was the former
Lillian Finkbeiner. Attendants
at the {wedding Almeda Fink-
beiner, sister of the bride, (now
Mrs. William Parsons of Crom-
arty) and Arthur Jones, Exeter,
brother of the groom, were pre-
sent for the celebration.
The celebrants recall their
wedding day as a lovely day
with no snow and the sun shin-
ing. ,
Following their marriage,
they moved to the south boun-
dary in Stanley Township were
Mr. Jones farmed for 44 years,

The Legion Ladies' Auxiliary
are having a Centennial cos-
tume ball, New Year's Eve; the
Kinsmen have plans. for Feb-
ruary; the Rebekab's have plans
for March.
Christmas carols accompanied
by Mrs. T. J. Sherritt were sung
at the • December meeting of
Unit four, UCW in Fellowship
Hall on Thursday afternoon, at-
tended by 27. Leader Mrs. James
McAllister opened the meeting
on a Christmas theme, reading
an article by Padre W. A.
Young a former Hensel' minis-
ter. "The Christmas Story" was
given by Mrs. Sim Roobol and
Mrs. E. Rowe presented the
study, "The Church grows in
Canada."
Programs for the New Year
were distributed to the mem-
bers. The unit will cater for a
banquet for one hundred Girl
Guides and Brownies and their
mothers, February 22nd.
Christmas stockings from
the Ontario Hospital, Gode-
rich, (men's ward) were given
out tobe filled. Mrs. Walter
Spencer is convener of this pro-
ject. Mrs. Laird Mickle and her
committee served lunch.

cakes drawn .Fridayevening
were Mrs. Dave Kyle, and Mrs.
Irene Davis of Hensall. Tickets
were drawn by Mr. and Mrs.

Amber Rebekah Lodge held a
euchre in the lodge hall, Fri-
day evening with seven tables

At a recent Centennial meet-
ing the following committees
were appointed. Chairma'h, Har-
old Knight; vice-chairman, John
Baker; secretary, Mrs. Harold
Caldwell; treasurer, Gary Kyle;
caravan, Ernie Davis; sports,
Lorne Hay? women's, Mrs. Roy
Smale; history, Mrs. Carl Payne;
publicity, Ron Wareing.; decora-
ting, Charles Hay, Bill Fuss;
building, Harold Knight, Bob
Baker, Ron Wareing, John Bak-
er, Bill Fuss.
Centennial pins have been or-
dered and will be given to Hen-
sall Public School pupils and
members of Teen Town who
will sell pins to other in'teres't
ed persons.
The Centennial Caravan will
visit Seaforth, . Juhe 13th and
Exeter, October 10. There are
eight vans in all and feature
eras from the ice, age till now.
Tickets will be sold on a
curling sweater,- donated by Mrs.
Leonard Noakes and Avon bath
set donated by Mrs. Leona
Parke. These are to be drawn
for in February.
The • Centennial committee
hopes to have Hensall's history
published in booklet form and
made available to the public.
The annual local association
of Girl Guides and Brownies
was held in the United Church
Tuesday evening with the, larg-
est attendance of Brownie and
Guide mothers.
Discussion., took place for
.ways and means of raising
money to carry on the Guide
work. It ..was decided to have a
candy drive Saturday, Febrgaryf
llth, Brownies' and Guides'
mothers to make candy, also
the . cookie drive was scheduled
for May, and discussion was
held for 'a mother- and daughter
banquet on Guides' and Brow-
nies' "Thinking Day", Feb. 22,
at the United Church. Mrs. Wil-
liam Clement was appointed re-
cording secretary; Mrs. John
Heal badge secretary; Mrs.
Leona Parke, treasure''; Mrs.
Earle Rowe, district _commis-
sioner for 1967.
