Members of the Legion will
attend the annual veterans' din-
ner in the Legion Hall on Sat-
urday evening. G/C IC R. Green-
away, commanding officer of
Canadian Forces Base, Clinton,
will speak,
Legion officials, in discussing
parade arrangements, empha-
sized that it was hoped that all
veterans and servicemen in the
district, regardless of whether
or not they were Legion mem-
bers, would take part in the
Remembrance Day parade and
service.

something to clean up the sit-
uation they would be willing
to withdraw the appeal. They
were only asking for a reduc-
tion in the odors, not neces-
sarily elimination.
The court rejected two other
appeals. Alex McGregor asked
for a . reduction of $750 on a
darn which had been sold- The
court agreed adjustment could
be by way of a refund rather
than a lowered assessment. An
appeal by Dr. P. L. Brady' on
the grounds that a home he
owned had been unoccupied
was rejected since a recent
change in the act eliminated
such grounds as the basis for
an appeal.
Elect For Two Years
When Tuckersmith ratepayers
nominate on November 25 next,
they will be selecting candidates
who if elected, will serve for
two years.
Council at the October meet-
ing gave final approval to a
by-law providing for two year
terms. Council agreed the first
meeting in the New Year would
be on Tuesday, January 3, at
one o'clock.

Rooms in Clinton, on Wednes-
day, with chairman Rae Hous-
ton in charge.
Howard Goddard, vice-chair-
man of Cream Producers Mark-
eting Board and also a director
of the dairy farmers of Canada,"
spoke of the two projects being
undertaken by the cream pro-
ducers, the first dealing with
the economics of cream pro-
duction versus manufactured
milk. The other project is in
conjunction with the food and
drug dept., concerning extran-
eous matter in butter. He told
of the minor hockey team spon-'
sored in Toronto by the Cream
Producers, called "Butter Beeps"
with their crest being a pound
of butter and expressed the
disappointment of the dairy
producers in the new dairy
policy pointing out that cream
producers were at the low end
of the scal. ,
Pointing out that the biggest
loss in the industry was the
number of farmers that have
quit producing milk and cream
.Mr. Goddard said in closing
that the future of the farm sep-
arated cream lies in the farm-
ers in the industry.

in Bell Phone lines is down
from $5,512.56 to 53,343.28 for
1966. •
Kippen East WI
Holds Meeting
Mrs. Harry Caldwell and Mrs.
Alex McGregor were hostesses
when the Kippen East WI met in
the Legion Hall, Hensall, Wed-
nesday. The meeting was chair-
ed by the president, Mrs. Grant
MacLean. The roll call Was
answered by the ladies explain-
ing safety precautions against
fire.
Mrs. Robert Kinsman gave the
Historical Research report in
which she described with illus-
trations, "Sandwich Glass".
The business of the meeting
included donations to the blind
and menta•1 health;.._and a re-
view of, the Plowing Match by
Mrs. Drummond. The Hat
Course was given by Mrs. Alex
McGregor and Mrs. Dave Trieb=
ner who displayed the hats
they had made.
Mrs. Vern Alderdice gave the
treasurer's report and moved
that decisions regarding a Cen-
tennial project be, deferred.
With lights out and a pump-
kin face glowing eerily in the
dark a ghost story was told by
Mrs. Grant MacLean.
Mrs. Harry Caldwell gave the
report of Huron County Rally,
held in Auburn.' Mrs. Kyle read
an informative article on things
that puzzle husbands.
Mrs. Ernest Whitehouse
chaired the remainder of the

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Allan of
Brucefield celebrated their
40th- wedding. anniversary .with
a family dinnereet` the' Berkley
Restaurant, Kitchener, Satur-
day evening, Oct. 22nd. Those
attending were: Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Allan, Brucefield; Mr.
and Mrs. James Allan, Wood-
bridge; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Al-
lan, Lambeth; Mr. and Mrs.
George Gloade, ,Kitchener; and
Miss Louise Allan, Hamilton.
Mrs. Allan was the former
Annie Turner of Clinton. The
family presented them with
suitable gifts.
On Thursday evening prev-
iously, Mr. and Mrs. Allan cele-
brated Mrs. Allan's birthday at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. How-
ard Allan, Brucefield.

Relatives and friends gather-
ed recently to give a surprise
party for Mr. and Mrs. J. E.
Patterson, East William St., Sea -
forth. The event marked was
their silver wedding`" anniver-
sary on October 25th and was
held at ,the Curling Club with
28 present. Their family :plan-
ned the event and Mrs. Miller
catered for the 'dinner' which
was followed by dancing.
Guests were present from Ot-
tawa, Norwich, Strathroy, Pres-
ton, Goderich, Clinton, London
and Seaforth.

Fires". Resolutions were dealt
with, Mrs. Robert Kinsman gave
the courtesy remarks. Mrs. Al-
derdice conducted a contest.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
June Cooper, Mrs. Kenneth Mc-
Kay, Mrs. William Kyle and
.Mrs. Robert Bell.
When his leg was caught in
a power take off, Lloyd Mc-
Kenzie, RR 3, Kippen, was rush-
ed to Clinton Public Hospital.
The accident occured while he
was assisting in filling a silo on
the farm of a neighbor, Russell
Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Carter of
Chatham spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Hood.
Mrs.. Eleanor McKenzie at-
tended the funeral of her friend
the late Mrs. Audrey Agar, of
Mount Forest.
Mr. and' Mrs. John Long of
Owen Sound spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Long.
Sunday visitors were Mr. and
Mrs. James 'Armstrong of Staf-
fa.

there are a lot of Legion activ-
ities on the agenda at present.
This week for example we
have our Poppy drive and on
Nov. 5 (Sat. evening) our an
nual Veteran's t anquet where
a bus load of veterans. from
Westniinister Hospital, Lon-
don will be guests for the ban-
quet and,evening so let's shote
our guests just what a lively
branch we have here in Sea -
forth.
On Sunday, November 6 the
annual memorial church -par-
ade will fall in at 10:30 a.m.
and move off to St. 'James'
Church for the service. Notr.
10 is our next regular business
meeting and it is also the nom-
inating meeting of a new execu-
tive for the coming year. It
is most important for us to
turn out and nominate at this
meeting.
November 11 wilt see our
Cenotaph parade and service.
Members are requested to be
at the Legion hall by 10:30.
The town council has made
November 11 a full holiday
and they should he congratu-
lated on their stand..,
Our branch centennial fund
is still below our commitment
to the general fund so let's
get this •finished 'and off our
chest. Send your contributions
to Al Nicholson, the chairman
of the fund. Our share is $900
so it works out to be about
$4.00 per member.
Well comrades this is all

dates in mind and make an
effort to attend all of them as
our small contribution to the
memory of ur fallen comrades
and to the many• personal
buddies that'all of us lost over
