ening. Gus included. Mrs.

District 1 Dinettes Club, of

District Secretary, St. Thom-
as; Mrs. Hal Taggart, London,
Past Kinette of Hensall; and
Kinette Clubs of Exeter and
Clinton.
Reeve Mrs. lVfinnie Noakes
brought greetings from the
village of Hensall.
President, IVIrs. Van Reisen
of Clinton Club, presented
Hensall Kinette Club with a
guest book and president Mrs.
Barbara Kern, Exeter, presen-
ted the club with an inscribed
scrap book.
Mrs. J. W. Drysdale intro-
duced the guest speaker, Bill
Brady of C.F.P.L. Lon-
don who spoke on "Broadcast-
ing Industries".

Honor Bride -Elect
Several showers have been
held in honor of Miss Mary
Payne, bride -elect of this
month, Relatives gathered at
the home of Mrs. Floyd tPayne
of London and presented her
with various gifts. -

at the home of Mrs. Dean Mc-
Elroy, Strathroy„ and 'miscell-
aneous showers were held by
Miss S a n d r a Merritt, St.
Thomas, sister of the groom,

Robert E. McKinley, M.P.
Ifni ^Huron, was guest speaker
cat Hensall Women's Institute
Wednesday e v e n'i n g. The
speaker, introduced by Mrs.
Fred Beer, was spending the
week in Huron because of the
Plowing Match. Mr. McKinley
spoke of the many duties of
a member of Parliament and
also showed pictures of a trip
to Northern Canada taken this
Summer by the Northern Af-
fairs committee of the House
of Commons. He spoke of the
tremendous Potentials of the
North in natural resources
• and the roads and railways
that are needed to develope it.
He wished every Canadian
would have the opportunity to
see the conditions our north-
ern people, who are also Can-
adians, live under. If they

LOGAN COUNCIL
' At, the October meeting of
Logan Council, there being no
appeals on the. Schoonderwoerd
Drain, the Court of Reyision
was dispensed with and the By-
law finally passed. Amending
by-laws lowering the assessments
on the followink drains were
given three readings: Grey
Branch of Northwest, Leggatt.
Winteringham, Karr, Squire
and Regan. '
The 11966 Nominatkin by-law
was passed arranging for the
Nomination on Friday, 'Novem-
ber 25, and an election if neces-
sary 'on Monday, December 5.
The Reeve and Clerk were
'authorized to sign the neces-
sary papers to apply, for Interim
Road Subsidy on $88,520.15 and
November 7 was set as the date
for the Court of Revision on the
190 Assessment Roil.

Mrs: Wm. Walters has, re-
turned to her ham on Friday,
after being,'a patient in St. Jo-
seph's Hospital for the past
eleven days.
'Quite a few people from Win-
chelsea attended the plowing
match this past week.
The ladies of Winchelsea sur-
prised Mrs. Colin Gilfillan on
Friday evening for a get to-
gether on her birthday. Those
attending were, Mrs. M. Hutton,
Mrs. E. Horne, Mrs. L. Hern,
Mrs. H. Coward and,,, Mrs. R.
Campbell.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Ball and
family of 'Clinton and -Mrs. An-
nie Veal and Miss Dora Del -
bridge a Exeter visited on Sun-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn'
Kerslake and family.

the London. Little Theatre on
Thursday evening.

Huron Farm News
Wet weather of the last few
days has curtailed harvesting.
There are still somebeans yet
to harvest. Some corn has been
harvested but • moisture level is
high — above 40% in most
cases, although corn is well
dented. •
Fair average of fall plowing
has been completed.
