M�Ewing At First, Fall USW Mrs. Arthur Higginbotham was in charge of the Walton. Unit meeting held Wednesday evening, opening with hymn 500 "Take Time to be Holy". Mrs. W. Hackwell was pianist. Meditation "Jesus Walks" was given by Mrs. Higginbot- ham when John 14 from the Phillip's translation was used as an illustration followed by prayer. The. offering was re- ceived by Mrs. Torrance Dun- das. Mrs. Cecil Lydiatt read the scripture from Psalm 1'00. The topic "I have no time" was taken by Mrs. Jack Mc - Ewing, introducing it with a poem, "Take Time". She ex- plained how important it is to take time to talk . to your small child when she comes home from school and be a good listener and she will al- ways confide in you. Never neglect or feel, that you are too busy. It is the same with God, our time is too rushed to take time to talk with God. Do we take time to sit quietly so we will measure up when we meet God. Do we take time to get to know him or .is he just the man we visit on Sun- day. Take time to -day; tomor- row may be too late. Let's pause a moment every morn- ing and again in the evening. With only the present to call our own, yesterday is gone, tomorrow is yet unborn. Mrs. William Coutts presid- ed for the business session and thanked those who helped with the picnic and showers. Mrs. James Clarke read the minutes. The roll call was answered by naming "A book of the old Testament". The treasurers report was given by Mrs. Torrance Dundas. A letter from Jay and Betty De Forrest of Del Rio. Texas, told of their work there. It was decided to donate two pair of mitts from the Bazaar to be put in the Indian bald. Mrs. Emerson Mitchell ex- plained and outlined different procedures for the Plowing Match. Boundary Unit Meets 17th and Boundary Unit UCW met at the home of. Mrs. Jan, Van Vliet Sr. Mrs. Hig- 1 ginbotham opened the meet- ing and hymn 637 was used. i Mrs. Hugh' Johnston read the scripture St, John dt 21-23 and Meditation on this part of the chapter. The collection was taken up and dedicated with prayer. Mrs. Higginbotham h a d charge of the topic entitled "Blinds" which had emphasis on the necessity of our aware- ness of the need of others. Mrs. G ear g e Williamson presided over the business session. The meeting closed with hymn 403 and prayers by Mrs. Higginbotham. Mission Band Meets The Mission ,Band met in the church with an attendance of 46 and opened with "Can a Little Child Like me", Douglas Wey read the call to worship, Psalm 106: 1. Hymm 609 `Mothers of Salem' was sung. Christine Lee read the scripture from Matthew 18: 20. Mrs. Walter Bewley discussed what church really is. Lois Wildfong led in pray- er. Ricky McDonald gave the treasurers report. S h a r o n Marks read the minutes. Doug conducted the business, Step- hen Dennis and Keith Clark will assist with the worship at the -October meeting and Dena Wey will act as pianist.' Unit 1 met at the home of Mrs. Char- les McCutcheon with 18 ladies present. - Mrs. William Roe presided for Devotions opening with hymn 280, "The King of Love My Shephard is". The Lord's Prayer was repeated in uni- son after which Mrs, Roe gave the Meditation. The topic "Worthy of Thy Calling" was given by Mrs. Don Dennis, Hvmn 637, "The Lord is My Shepherd" was sung.
