FUNERAL
MRS. ELLEN M. FRANCIS
Mrs. Ellen M. (Scott) Francis,
wife of Mr, Oran R. Francis, of
451 Drew Sty, Woodstock, pas-
sed away in Woodstock General
Hospital, on Sunday, Aug. 28th,
on her 86th birthday. She was
born in Hibbert township, the
daughter of • the late Mr. and
Mrs. James Scott. After her
marriage in 1905, she moved
with her --husband to Cassel,
where they operated a cheese
factory. They later moved to
Bright and then to Woodstock
in 1938.
Mrs, Francis was an active
member of Central United
Church there, president of the
Friendship Club and past -presi-
dent of the Oxford Prebyterial•
of the Women's Missionary So-
ciety: Surviving' besides her
husband are three daughters,
Mrs. Newton (Mary) Brown, of
Peterborough; Mrs. Jack (Hel-
en) Town, Woodstock; Mrs. Rus-
sell (Beth) Ferguson, Plattsville;
a son, James H., Tavistock; and
a sister, 'Mrs, Kenneth McKellar,
Cromarty; ten grandchildren and
twelve great grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral service was held on
Tuesday, August 30th, at the
F. E. Rowell funeral home, 134
Riddell St., Woodstock. Burial
took place in Oxford Memorial
Park cemetery.

The WMS met at the home of
Mrs. T. R. Jefferson, with 11
members present. Mrs, William
Harper presided and led ' in de-
votions. • .
The roll call was answered
by naming a( country in which
the Bible Scleiety works. Mrs.
M. Lamond read newsletter of
Bible Society' activities. Mrs.
Mervin Dow assisted by Mrs.
Calder McKaig, conclupled the
Bible" study lesson, with chap,
ter 16.
Lunch was served `by 'the hos-
tess, 'assisted by Mrs. Grace
Scott. ' •
Sunday school classes re -open-
ed on Sunday after being discon-
tinued through the summer
months.
High School and Public
School pupils ' resumed their
studies Tuesday,, after summer
holidays. Mrs. Filmer Chappel
returned to her duties as tea-
cher at SS No. 5, Hibbert and
Mrs. Arthur Kemp has been
engaged as teacher at SS No. 6.

STOP BOTH WAYS FOR SCHOOL BUSES
When a school bus is stopped and its red lights are
flashing, a Motorist approaching the school bus from
the front or overtaking it from the rear, must stop and
must remain stopped until the red signal lights on the
bus are no longer flashing. EFFECTIVE NOW.
,CLEAR VIEW
'The windshield and the windows on either side of the
front seat must afford a clear view of the roadway and
vehicles ahead and to the sides. The rear window must
afford a clear view of the roadway and vehicles behind,
unless there is an outside rear-view mirror which does
afford this clear view. EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 1966.
UNNECESSARY NOISE
A person who drives a motor vehicle and causes it to
make an unnecessary noise commits an -offence.

INTERNATIONAL DRIVING PERMIT
Any non-resident of Ontario, who is the holder of an
International Driving Permit, may operate a vehicle in
Ontario. EFFECTIVE NOW.

COMMERCIAL VEHICLE LOADS
The gross weight of a trailer, other than a sem) or pole
trailer shall not exceed 32,000 pounds) and the weight
on one axle shall not exceed 18,000 pounds; and if the
axles are less than 8 feet apart, the weight shall not
exceed 14,000 pounds. EFFECTIVE NOW.
All Toads on trucks must be secured, covered or loaded
in such a manner -that no part of the load may become
dislodged. EFFECTIVE NOW.
PEDESTRIANS
A pedestrian walking along a highway must walk facing
the traffic and as close to the left hand edge of the road
as possible. EFFECTIVE NOW.
