This survey was sponsored by the Depart- ment of •Education of the On- tario Government, which is re- sponsible for the public lib- rary. system. Mr. St. John recommended the establishment of county libraries, through which local libraries could obtain books more cheaply and could borrow rare or expensive reference works. A regional library com- prising the counties of Huron, Perth, Waterloo and Welling- ton is also being considered. At the June meeting of the. Seaforth Library Board, tribute was paid to Mrs. Mary Van Rengen for her work at the library. In appreciation 'of her services, a gift was presented Mr, and Mrs. Van Rengen are leaving July 1, for Cornwall, where Mr. Van Rengen will be teaching. Logan Council Meets • Logan Council met with all members present... Since there were no appeals on the Wood's Drain, the Court of Revision was dispensed with and the bylaw given final read- ing. The final inspection certifi- cate was received.,from the En- gineer on the dram and all ac- counts were ordered paid and an amending bylaw passed, re- ducing the assessments. • T h e treasurer reported $9,206.21, 1965 taxes outstand- ing and was instructed to turn this amount into the County Treasurer for collection. A notice stating the Main Hagar- ty Drain is out of repair was received by council and James A. Howes is to be notified tg examine it and report back to council. Road accounts totaling $1,690:98 and general accounts amounting to $4,691.15 were ordered paid. ' - STAFFA Mr. Garnet Taylor is a pat- ient in Clinton Public Hospital. With the County of Huron acting as host and assuming local responsibilities there is every assurance this year's event will live up to its reputation of being the largest of its kind in Canada, if not the World. About 1,000 acres have. been reserved for exhibits, plow- ing competitions, demonstrations, corn day program, parking and special events. Close to 300 exhibitors will be reserving space in Tented City. Those who have not yet made application are urged to do so as 50011 as possible, but not later than September 4th. Plowmen intending to compete in the various classes have until $eptem.. ber 30th to -make entry. News of BRODHAGEN The house of the late Mrs. William Querengesserlhas been sold- to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Vock and family of Stratford and the household contents were sold at an auction sale in Mitchell. on Saturday. A basket of flowers was in Lutheran Church on _Sunday from the funeral on Saturday, of Earl 'Pfeifer. Members of the Lutheran Church Women attended a so- cial evening as guests of the CWL at St. Columban Church, last Wednesday evening.' Mr. and Mrs. Russell Sholy dice attended the Lions Tour 23 Reunion at Seaforth Lions Park, with dinner at the curl- ing rink on Sunday afternoon. Russell has been on this tour to Europe five years ago. Miss Diane Beuerman of Sea - forth, who graduated from St. Thomas' Hospital, as a radio= ligist recentlyo is spending sev- eral weeks with her grand- mother, Mrs. Louie Hillebrecht before taking a position at the Seaforth Community Hospital. The Swing Bowling Club have started their genies on the courts on the St. Peter's Luth- eran Church grounds. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Miller and Linda, ,with Mrs. Toledo Beuerman and Pete Miller, of Waterloo. Mr. Michael Doman of .King- ston with his sister, Mrs. Kap- pes and Rev. Kappes. The cabaret dance at the Community Hall on Saturday evening was attended by a very large crowd. Mr. and Mrs. R. ShoIdice, with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Deig- el, Stratford. Mrs. Kenneth Elligsen, Terry and Warren and her mother, Mrs Mabel Higgerson are spending this week visiting rel- atives in Toronto.
