Recently Marred Couple
A reception was held for Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Mills at Dennis'
School Saturday evening. The
evening was spent in playing
progressive euchre with sixteen
tables in play and three tables
of Lost Heir. The following were
winners at euchre: ladies' high,
Mrs. Wesley Hackwell; ladies'
low, Mrs. Glen McNichol; gents'
high, Bert Dennis; gents' low,
Roy Bennett; Lost Heir: girls'
high, Mary Leeming; boys' high,
Tom Williamson; girls' low,
Anne Clarke and Peggy Dennis
(tied); boys' low, Keith Clarke;
William Dennis acted as mask
ter of ceremonies. The program
included: solos by Bonnie
Coutts and Sharon Marks; read-
ing, Mrs. ` William Humphries;
solo, Charles Boyd, accompan-
ied by Mrs. Ted Bergey. -
The bride and groom were
called to the front and an ad-
dress was read by Mrs. Charles
Boyd. The couple were present-
ed with a table lamp, tri -light
floor lamp and a coffee table by
Connie Coutts, Sharon Marks,
Campbell Wey, Robert McMich-
ael and Howard Hackwell. Mr.
and Mrs. Mills replied, express-
ing their thanks for the gifts
and all who had been respon-
sible for the evening.
Boundary Unit Meets
The 17th and Boundary Unit
met at the home of Mr's: Har.
vey Craig. Fifteen -members and
a visitor answered the roll call.
Mrs, -Roy Williamson opened,
the devotional period with a
Call to Worship and Hymn 41
was used. Scripture reading was
from the Gospel of John, chap-
ter 6, verses 66-71, followed by
Meditation. Mrs. James Wil-
liamson was in charge of the.
topic entitled, "Attitudes To
Christ;" taken from the study
book, The Gospel of John, Vol-
ume I. Mrs. Roy Williamson
led in prayer.
Mrs. George Williamson pre-
sided for the business session.
Four crib quilts were tied dur-
ing the meeting. The meeting
closed with the., singing of
Hymn 424 and prayer by Mrs.
R. Williamson.
Madhatters Meet
Walton, Madhatters met at the
home of Mrs, William' Coutts
Saturday afternoon and open-
ed with "0 Canada," the 4-H
Pledge and the roll call, with
Betty Roe acting as president.
The leaders, Mrs: Gerald Wat-
son and Mrs. Kenneth McDon-
ald,talked on the care of shoes
and purses. The next • meeting
will be held at the home of
Sherrill Craig,, with Connie
Coutts and Judy Thamer bring-
ing lunch.

Mrs. Ray Huether read the
scripture passage' from Psalm
16 and gave the Meditation en-
titled, "Victory Over Death,"
ending with a poem, "Jesus
Loves Me." Hymn 86, "When 1
Survey the Wondrous Cross"
was sung.
The topic entitled, "The Re-
surrection," was given by Mrs.
Herbert Traviss, after which
she read a poem, "Don't Envy
Others."
The business period was con-
ducted by the president, Mrs.
William Coutts. The minutes
were read by the secretary, Mrs.
James Clark. Roll call was an-
swered with "One of the Ten
Commandments." Mrs. Ronald
Bennett gave the treasurer's re-
port, including the bazaar re-
port, which realized $210.35.
PIanS were made for the Can-
adian Girls in Training banquet
to be held in the church' May
10th, with the Walton Unit
catering.
Mr. Frank Dundas, Dale and
Frank, of Toronto, spent the
weekend with Mrs. George Dun-

fined to Seaforth Community
Hospital.

CNIB Names
New Official
Next week Roy .Meehan is
being posted to the London Dis-
trict of the Canadian National
Institute for the Blind as assist-
ant field secretary. The t istrict
comprises the Counties of El-
gin, Huron, Middlesex and
Perth. Mr. Meehan will be as-
sociated with district field sec-
retary, E. F. Wheeler, who is
responsible for the flow- of
CNJB services to more than 560
blind persons, for . fund rais-
ing, and for prevention of blind-
ness work,
Mr. Meehan was born ori a
farm near Jarvis, Ont., where
he lost his sight at the age of
four as a result of an injury
with- a bow and arrow. He ob-
tained his education at the On-
tario School for the Blind at
Brantford, where he graduated
in 1943. For the next six years
he was employed in industrial
work in Brantford, Wallaceburg
and Kitchener.
