STAFFA
Mrs. Cameron Vivian was hos-;
tess for the March meeting of
the Staffa Women's Institute,
held in the. Township Hall on
Tuesday. 'Dublin WI were
guests. "Vegetables With a
Flair" was the tepic, and Mrs.
Gerald Agar, Mrs. Roy McDon-
ald and Mrs. Ed Chappel gave
the commentary and demon-
strated vegetable dishes, This
was followed by a pot -luck din-
ner.
In the afternoon a quilting
followed with the regular meet-
ing. Mrs. John Templeman pre-
sided. A paper was given on
the motto,- "Be kind to the ag-
ed; your time will corner" . The
roll call was answered with a
historical spot I would like to
visit. Mrs. Carter Kerslake
demonstrated hooking a wool
rug. Mrs. Templeman gave an
account of the district direc-
tors' meeting, which she and
Mrs. Kerslake had attended.
Mrs. Kerslake reported on the
'accident survey which is being
held in Perth County, beginning
April 1. Mrs. Lorne Fell and
Mrs. Gerald Carey are the re-
presentatives from Staffa Insti-
tute. -'
Discussion was held on whe-
ther the Institute would have a
-booth at the Plowing Match in
October, and a decision was
left until the April meeting. It
was decided to sponsor a play,
"The Bracelets. of Doom," by
the Seaforth Junior Farmers, in
Staffa Hall on April 15, follow-
ed by a dance. It was decided
to send a gift of money to the
Institute's adopted child and
also a donation to "Bunny Bun-
dle." Mrs. Glanville, Mrs. Lloyd
Miller ' and Mrs. Ross Smale-
were the committee named to
plan for the booth at `Mr. Gar-
net Taylor's sale. The nominat-
ipg committee for the annual
meeting are Mrs. Glanville, Mrs.
G. Taylor and Mrs. J. Miller.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bowman
had' a successful sale of live-
stock,' feed and implements on
Wednesday. They had sold their
farm to Mr. Duncan Scott, but
will continue to live in the
house. Staffa Women's Institute..
-had a booth on the grounds.
