wedding vows in a ceremony
in Northside United Church,
Seaforth, on Saturday; Jan. 22,
at 2 o'clock: Rev. J. C. Britton
officiated_. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sohn
l3ach, of Seaforth, and the
groom is the son •of Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Grunewald of RR 5,
Clinton; Mr. James A. -Stewart
vitas soloist, accompanied by
Mrs. Stewart. The church- was
decorated with baskets of white
mums.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose a floor -
length gown ,of white silk or-
ganza • over taffeta, fashioned
with a torso waist, . trimmed
with. Swiss lace. The bodice fea-
tured a sweetheart neckline,
encircled with Swiss lace and
three-quarter length sleeves. A
detachable train ' extended to
chapel length. Her elbow -
length veil was held in place
by a pillbox styled silk organza
headpiece. She carried a cas-
cade of white mums, green orch--
ids and trailing_ ivy.;-
The bride was attended by
Miss Jessica Grunewald, 'Lon-
don, as maid of honor, and wore
a floor -length gown of gold
peau de soie, fashioned with an
Empire waist. The sleeves and
detachable train were trimmed
with gold -lace, and"she carried
a bouquet of white Shasta mums
with accents of green and white
lace ribbon.

of Mr. and Mrs- Don Dodds, of

past three weks with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sim
Roobol, returned home on Sun-
day.
Mr. J. • T. Mitchell celebrated
his 99th birthday on Monday at
the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Jarvis Horton; 'a family dinner

Miss Troyann Bell was suc-
cessful ;in passing a preliminary
dance, "The Canasta," on Sun-
day at St. Thomas.
Mrs. Stewart Bell, while get-
ting out of her car in Hensall,
had the misfortune to fall on
the ice. X-rays taken at Sea -
L forth Community Hospital re-
vealed torn ligaments in her
right leg, which was placed in
a cast.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Campbell,
accompanied by their son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Campbell, left Thursday by
car for California, where they
will vacation for the month, of
February and also visit 1!ela

Mrs. Stewart.• 'Bell, Pauline
and Troyann were snawbound
in St, Thomas until Tuesday
morning of last week.

Mrs. Katy Meidinger, a pa-
tient at Queensway Nursing
Home for .the past two and a
,half years and a, native of Zur-
ich,, will celebrate her 95th
birthday on Valentine's Day,
when a birthday party will be
held for her at the "nursing
home.
Sgt. Tom Peters, Victoria,
B.C., who' has been on sp'ecial
course at Camp Borden, recent-
ly visited his parents,. Mr; • and
Mrs. Fred Peters, and Bonnie

Discuss Use of Dumb
Hensall Council met in ses-
sion Tuesday evening with
Reeve Minnie Noakes and Coun-
cillors John Baker, Harold
Knight, Jack Lavender and Oli-
ver Jaques present.

Township was present regard-
ing a new agreement concern:
ing the use of the dump. This
will be decided at a later meet-
ing.
Clerk Earl Campbell' was in-
structed to prepare a new by-
law for the Centennial project,
which is to be a picnic pavilion
in the Park, at an estimated
cost of $3,000.
Reeve Minnie Noakes was ap-
pointed deputy.:clerk for the
month- of February.. Building
permits were passed for Wil-
liam Clement to build an addi-
tion to his implement build-
ing, and Charles • Eckel, to do
renovations to his home.
The matter of keeping horses
in the village was discussed and
council instructed E. R. Davis
to notify, owners of the by-law
whereby persons are only, al-
lowed- to .keep one horse to a

A meeting of Hensall Guide
Association was held in the
United Church Tuesday even-
ing, with a good attendance of
Guide and Brownie mothers.
The financial report was giv-
en and plans discussed to raise
money, when a candy drive was
planned for Saturday, when a
canvass of the village will be
made by the Guides and Brown-
ies, and also an annual Guide
cookie sale for Saturday, April
30th.
Legion Ladies Meet
The February meeting of
Hensall Legion Toadies' Auxil-
iary was held Tuesday evening
in the Legion Hall with the new
officers in charge and president

UCW Unit IV Meets
On Thursday afternoon Unit
Four ,of ..the UCW met in the
Friendship Hall of the United
Church, ''Hensall, with '29 pres-
ent. Mrs. James McAllister on-
ened the meeting with invoca-
tion, "God does not intend that
we live unto ourselves "'alone;
He calls us to serve others."
Mrs. R. McAllister gave the
devotional on the Good Samari-
tan, bringing the story down to
our present day of living. The
topic given by Mrs. E. Chip -
chase was most interesting on
"Thoughts From St. Paui'S Let-
ter on Charity," Believe in the
best and you will help to bring
it into being; half ;the trouble
in the world is caused by peo-
ple who never grod*' up and de-
velop, hut. spiritually they . re-
main children, mentally and
emotionally immature, , and they
go through life suffering from
arrested development of char
acter. Christian love has a re-
fining influence upon the whole
personality. -
Members reported having
made many visits do sick and
shut-ins. The annual quilting
bee commenced and will con-
tinue until the quota is com-
pleted, with 'plock-luck 'dinners
and afternoon tea one of the
highlights. The World Day of
Prayer will be held in the
church Feb. 25th. The unit will
cater to a dinner for Sunday
School superintendents of Hur-

In a hockey game here Wed-
nesday, Feb. 2, Hensall defeat-
ed Zurich by a score of 8-0.
Saturday night, at Heasall,
in a fast flying game; `Flensall
were the winners over Mitchell'
by a� 6-4 score, with the score
tied 3-3 in the third period.
Hensall goal -getters were Ricky
Parker (2), Tom Worwman (2),
Jim Cooper (2); for Mitchell:
John Lawrence (2),•.,•Bill Walt
(1), Terry Soedar (1). Follow-
ing the game the boys were
treated at the restaurant for
their hard-fought game.
Next game this Saturday
night at Hensall Arena, when
Hensall will meet Blyth • in a
play-off game, best two out of
three. .

Pee Wees, with game time at

Hensall Curling Club held a
social at the local' Community
Centre Friday evening, attend-
ed

Dies in California
Mrs. Alda Simmons received
word that her sister, Mrs. Aa
Wood, of Santa Barbara, Cali-
fornia, . had passed away on
Friday after a. two years' ill-
ness. Mrs. Wood, the former
Ila Dinsdale, a native of Kip -
pen, took up residence in Santa
Barbara, Cal., •sbi�he 50 ears
ago, but made frequent" ips
back here to vis, her sister,
Mrs. Simmons, "aiidt• other rela-
tives.
Mrs. Wood is survived by two
grandsons and a sister, Mrs.
Simmons, of Hensail. Within the
past 13 months Mrs, Simmons
has been bereaved of three sis-
ters and one brother-in-law.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wood
were held on Monday, at Santa
Barbara.
