Winthrop Warriors edged the
Atwood Huskies 6-5 in a WOAA
Intermediate "D" game, played
in Seaforth on Monday. night.
Winthrop opene{1 the scor-
ing at 5:01 of the first period
on a goat by Jim Strong from
Ray Powell. Atwood tied the.
score on a goal by G. Coghlin
at 7:30. Ken Devereaux from
John Varley and Wayne Dol -
mage at 12:19 gave the War-
riors. a 2-1 lead as the period
ended.
In the second period it was
Don Moylan from Ray Powell
and John Varley at 2:56, .for
Winthrop, and M. MeCourt for
Atwood at 4:10. Ken Murray,
from Ray Horan and George
Love at 9:27, gave the, War-
riors a 4-2 lead.
D. Aiicheson scored for At-
wood at 3:37 of the third per-
iod, but Winthrop can back
with goals by Ken Devereaux
from Art Murray at 12:51 and
Frank Malone from Don Moy-
lan at 19:12. Atwood ended the
scoring with two fast goals by
B. Coghlin at 19:16 and 19:29,
making the final score 6-5 for
Winthrop.
The Warriors served five of
the eight penalties called in
the game.
Ellice 9, Winthrop 6
Winthrop played in Listowel
on riday night and,, were de-
feated 9-6 by the Ellice Swamp-
ers.

Winthrop will play in Harris -
ton on Friday, Feb. 11, and the

An election was held last
week to determine our repres-
entatives in the 9ueen's Club
and Leaders' Club. Candidates
far Queen's Club were Chris
Dobson, Janet Turnbull, Myra
McNair and )Mary Helen Buch-
anan. Fromhis group, Chris
Dobson was chosen by student
vote.

Bachelors' Club
During the past week or so
a new club has get a start in
the school. As can be. seen by
its title, membership' is restrict-
ed to boys. Word has it that
R. B. is president, P. S., the
secretary -treasurer, and B. B.,
the vice-president. At the fiat
meeting the club planned its
activities for the future. 'What
its plans are, I have no idea.

Basketball
The boys' junior and senior
teams played two games last
week. On Tuesday the seniors
were defeated by St. Marys 66-
47, and also the juniors by a
score of 41-33: Points obtained
for the seniors were: Brian
Stewart (16), D. Mills (7), Jack
McCall (6), Brian Scott' (6),
Dave Britton (6), Eric Ross (4)
and Doug Dalrymple (2). Points
for the juniors .were.:. ,_Hank.
Scott (7), Steve Brady (4), Hod-
gert (2), Stevenson (1), and
Nicholson (19).
On Thursday, the senior and
junior boys were defeated by
Stratford Central 29-22 and 65'
23, respectively. Points 101 -the,
seniors were: Stewart (6), Mills
(5)., Don Hulley (3), Dalrymple
(3), Britton (2), Scott (1) and
Ross (2). For the juniors we
have Wilbee (2), McLean (3),
Hasson (1), Stevenson (2) and
Nicholson (15).
Girls
Last Tuesday the senior girls
lost 26-11 to St. Marys, while
the juniors won 29-2.
Points- obtained by the sen-
iors were by Sharon McKenzie.

Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Vivian,
Mrs. Penelope Fell and Mr.
Lisle Worden are spending the
month of February in the
Southern. States and Florida.
Miss Carol Vivian is spending
the next' few weeks with Mr.
and Mrs. Duncan Scott and fam-
ily.
Miss Loree Martin, Russell -
'dare, was a Thursday evening
guest of Darlene Templeman.
Staffa Women's Institute held
a successful progressive euchre
party in Staffa. Fall on Friday
evening. There were 13 tables
in play. Prizes were awarded
to: high lady„ Miss Olive
Speare, Cromarty; low lady,
Mrs. George Vivian, Staffa; high
gent, Jim Scott, Mitchell; low
gent, Tack Hoggarth, Cromar-
ty; travelling, lone hands, Jini
Scott, Mitchell; lucky chair,
Mrs. Garnet Taylor, Staffa.
The next 'euchre party is
scheduled for Friday evening,
March 4, with Mrs. Wilbur
Glanville's group in charge.
Homemaking Club Meets
The second meeting of Staf-
fa No. 1 4-11 Homemaking Club,
"Accent On Accessories," was
field at the home of the leader,
Mrs. Robert Laing, on Wednes-
day. The meeting began with
the 4-H Pledge. .Al•1--4aerntras
were present and answered the
roll call. with' their basic color
they had chosen for their ac-
cessories to blend with. The
secretary's report was given by
.. Mary Baines. Mrs. Laing ek-
plained to the ,girls the correct
accessories to wear with the
many different figure types, al-
so the accessories suitable for
wearing on different occasions.
Mrs. Taylor gave_ notes oh'. mak-,
ing accessories. The next meet-
ing will be held in one wee'k's
time at the leader's home.

2 4-H Homemakers' Club,, "Ac-'
cent on Accessories," was held
at the home of Miss Carol -Ann
Dow on Wednesday, Feb. 2nd,
Each girl answered the roll call
with the basic color scheme of
their wardrobe. Notes were
taken on how girls should dress
according to their figure and
size.
The assistant - leader, Mrs.
Douglas, gave the girls practice
in classing costumes by rule 14.
The next meeting will be held
in one week's time at the hone
