Seaforth wasn't mentioned at that time. The choice made then was to hold the township together as a unit, Councillor Forrest asked. Reeve -Thompson what the board chairman had asked him todo in Go4rich. The reeve said that he .(Mr. Alderdice)- had ttold him they thought it better to split up, that the township could do a better job to look after its own affairs. He said there had been little time to act on any- thing.' - "I swear I did nothing that wasn't tight, and if it wasn't, then I didn't know it," Reeve Thomp-, son told the meeting. "But that wasn't the, reason you gave me for not doing it at Goderich," Councillor 'For- rest replied. - Councillor McGregor suggest- ed the matter of schools had been settled by the election, but Councillor Forrest dis- agreed. "It is not decide!!. The town- ship is split right down the middle," he said. Reeve Thompson asked whe- ther a'"board of arbitration would settle the matter, but Councillors McGregor and Sil- lery stressed it was a school problem. On their motion, the petition was -forwarded to the Consultative Committee with advice to the school board.
