council Monday evening. The
resignation had hien dealt with

Persons Committee. Constable
Calder, who has been on the
force about seven years, left
Jan: 5th, and is understood to
have accepted employment in
Stratford -.
Council approved a recom-
mendation of the committee
that the request of Constable
Ruston to attend the Police
College be approved, ' and that
attend the college as soon
as arrangements can be work-
ed out.
Chief Hulley was authorized
to purchase two new tires for
the police cruiser, and Fire
Chief J. F. Scott to- purchase
two . pairs boots and two noz--
zles. -

March of Dimes goal fog 1966
is $800,000, and in Seaforth it
is hoped - to raise $500. Funds
are needed to carry on the vital
work of rehabilitating the adult
disabled of the', district. Sea -
forth' is part of the -Central
Western Ontario Branc Board
and includes 261 disabl per-
sons already ^'known• to the On-
tario Mar h of Dimes in "'this
branch arr. Officials expect
there areothers who have not
come for help, not realizing
that something might be done
for them -in -spite of long stand
ing disability. If there are such
persons, it is suggested they
write to the district .-March of
Dimes office at Kitchener and
the case Worker will call on
them. -

Rumors thht a Seaforth area -
youth had been killed in a traf-
fic accident east of town late
Monday afternoon arose when a
hitchhiker collapsed as he was
walking along the highway east
of the Lions Park.

Hold Annual Meeting
'The annual meeting of the
Lutheran Church • Women was
held Wednesday afternoon with
Pastor Kappes in charge of de-
votions. There were • 28 mem-
bei••s' 'present and three visitors.
Mrs. Martin Dietz, the presi-
dent, conducted the business.
The secretary, ,Mrs. L. Pfeifer,
read the minutes and the tfeas-,
urer,' Mrs. Edwin Scherbarth;
gave the treasurer's report.
-Thank-you cards were 'read
from Wilbur Hoegy for the
Christmas shut-in gift and don-
ations and thank -you cards
were received frpra Mrs. Fred
Scherbarth, Mrs. ,Chas..,,.pushel-
berg and Mrs. Wm. Hoppen=
roth and Mrs. John L. Benne-
wies.
Material is to be purchased
for two' quilts for Waterloo
Auxiliary. The summary of
the 1965 annual meeting was

poem and Mrs, Hinz read the
prayer, followed by the Lord's
Prayer.
During- the business conduct-

secretary and treasurer's re-
ports were read. It was decid-
ed to have Mr:Taylor, of the

Children's Aid Society of Perth
County, to show pictures of his
trip to the Holy Land and also

Rolph (Shirley Diegel), 31, of.

and former residents here. The

John Albert Hudson was
born in -Tuckersmith, but had
lived in Seaforth most of his
life. He was educated in Eg-
mondville public school.
A madhinist by : trade, : he
had retired in 1962.-
-He was married at. - Stratford
in 1917 to Amelia Brown, who
survives, together with two
daughters, Mrs. Frank (Dorothy)
Holroyd, Preston, and Mrs. Bar-
ry (Margaret) Marshall, Walton.
He • is ,also survived by two
grandchildren and a sister, Mrs.
A„ L. Stone, of Norwich.
Miss Muriel Mae` Hudson was
born in Seaforth_and educated
in Seaforth-•--schools. She was
employed at Highland Shoes

was recovered by a skin-diver
Thursday from a water -filled
tunnel under a lock in'the Wel-
land'panel at St. Catharines.
The -22 -year-old Brussels weld-
er was last seen Dec. 22 at the
canal site where Schwenger
Construction Ltd., of Burling-
ton, is modifying the locks.
His work gloves and 'lunch
pail were found at the job' site,
but police could not explant his
disappearance. Later they came
up with the theory he might
have been lost in the tunnel.
He had been employed 'with the
Sehweiiger company only. 'a
short time.
He is survived by his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Wilson, of.

Frank, of Brussels, and Scott,
at home, and three sisters, Mrs.

terment in Brussels cemetery.
