Safety
Ohl am sick of Christmas,
The con3mercia1 kind of one!
The one *here/folks praise Santa, Claus,
But never once think of the Son.
I'm tired of the kind of Christmas
That is filled with hurry and rush—
Buying gifts, sending cards, and partying—
Never hearing the Still Night's hush.
1 resent being urged — Buy here! Buy there!
Buy this I Buy that! And so—
want to return to the REAL Christmas;
Oh, please! Please let me got
Don't dazzle my eyes with all kinds of sights
Enticing, The world knows them well.
Let me go back to the "Silent Nights,"
"Peace on Earth," and "The First Noel."
Let the meaning of Christmas come throught to
me—
The reason God sent his Son—
To hold out a Hope; to set us free
From the earth's ties, — that's the one!

years they have installed or
modernized 102 automatic pro-
tection devices ("wigways"), and
NOR 47 grade separations
(bridges or underpasses).
Secondary roads are under
the jurisdiction of townships.
Department -of Highways may
recommend automatic protec-
tion devices at certain crossings
but have no power to force
townships to take action.
Modern signals cost about
$15,000.00 and the annual main-
tenance costs $300.00. The Rail-
way Board will pay 80% of any
improvement (provided certain
warrants are met, to prove the
need). The railway pays 5%;
The township has to find the
remaining 15%, but this can be
partly subsidized by Departihent
of Highways.
Thus, a township can get a
$15,000.00 crossing signal for a
few hundred dollars, if the Rail-
way Board thinks one is justi-
fied. The OSL suggests that
some township resident and of-
ficials might Uke to review loc-
al rail crossing iituations in the
light of this information.
