The Christmas meeting of the
17th and Boundary Unit was
held at the home of Mrs. John
Bos with thirteen members pre-
sent.
Mrs. Hugh Johnston opened
the meeting with the Call to
Worship "A wish to Christmas".
"0 Little Town of Bethlehem."
was sung and the scripture read-
ing was taken from Matthew 1
and 2. Mrs. Johnston offeied
prayer followed by reading a
poem, "A Gift for Jesus."
Mrs. James Williamson gave
the topic, "Reija Sans Ocean
Going Ordeal" "Joy to the Wor-
ld" was sung.
Mrs. Martin Baan presided
over the business session. It was
agreed that starting the New
Year boxesawould be sent to the
women and cards to the men in
time of sickness.
A Christmas greeting from
Mr. -Leeming was read
Officers were re-elected for
1969. The next meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Ross
Bennett. The meeting closed
with "Silent Night."
An old-fashioned Christmas
concert was held on Friday eve-
ning in the Community Hall,
sponsored by the Women's In-
stitute. Christmas music was
supplied by Misses Karen Mc-
Donald and Sharon Marks prior
to the program which included:
pre-school recitations, junior
public school activities, interme-
diate class choir, senior room
dialogue, two-part play by six
Institute members; also three
numbers by high school girls.
Mrs. Jan Van Vliet, the presi-
dent, told the story, "The Night
Before Christmas" to the pre-
school children who sat around
her on the platform.
Mrs. Torrance Dundas acted as
chairman for the evening, The
Public Relations committee in-
cluding Mrs. Kenneth McDonald,
Mrs. Nelson Marks, Mrs, Don
Achilles and Mrs. Neil McGav-
in, were in charge of the pro-
gram. At the close of the eve-
ning Santa presented the child-
ren with candy canes. The pian-
ists for the evening were Mrs.
Ray Huether, Mrs. Herbert Wil-
liamson and Miss Lois William-
son.
Miss Carol Wilbee of Strat-
ford Teachers' College, is vaca-
tioning •with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Ian Wilbee.
Mrs. Walter Broadfoot left
this week for Saskatoon, Sask.,
where she will be a guest at the
home of her brother, Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Love, for the next
few weeks.
