financial and auditor's reports.
A year-end surplus of $16,630
was transferred to general re-
serve.

that Ontario should join Medi-
care. It is expected that the
Health Insurance Registration
Board (H.I.R.B.) would then be
the sole insurer of physician's
services in Ontario.
The meeting approved a
motion by Martin Baan, RR 3,
Walton, directing the Board to
explore other fields of service
beyond those covered by Medi-
care, such as ,Preseription

cently issued, to Park Superinten
dents by the Department of
Indian Affairs and Northern
Development.
The purpose of the directive
is to e.neourage safe use of over:
snow vehicles and to ensure
that wildlife and forest growth
are .protected. The rights and
pleas:1r of trail skiers and
snowshoers must Ms* be safe-
guarded.
. POT the 1968-69 winter setas
son, a free permit will be requir-
ed to operate a motor toboggan
in the pas. Next year how-
ever, it is expected that there
will be a charge. • The vehicles
must be 'equipped with a stock
muffler in good condition.
On entering a park, operators
. will be informed which trails can
beamed. and how approved trails
are marked:. The trails \will be
supervised and some may- have
to be closed temporarily. if they
become to wean or dangerous.
They will be laid out so as to
make use of existing roads, heave
and hiking trails wherever pos-
sible. They will not follow nat-
ure ,and interpretive trails. Tem-
porary winter parking lots to
accomodate cars, trucks and
trailers will be provided where
ever possible.

The new directive advises
park superintendents to develop
a nurriber of short trails and
small .2:teas for day trips end
general use. These -will be rated.
as elass I and will not require
special registration and survival
equipment. The longer cross-
country trails, and more remote
areas, where overnight camping
ID permitted or where there is
greater risk of accident, will be
designated as class 2. Travel in
these areas will require special
registration permits and surviv-
al equipment. At least two veil-
icles must travel together on the
Long trails. Campsites will ba
marked along ,these routes, mak-
ing use of existing campgrounds
where possible.
The, directive warns that over -
snow vehicle trails must not en-
croach on developed ski areas,
or coincide to any extent with
trails: used for cross-country
skiing or otherr forms of quiet
enjoyment. Also they must not
NMI through the winter feeding
grounds of wildlife.
Towing of skiers is permitted
in certain areas, but rallies, rec-
ta, and endurance meets, or
other organized competitive
events will net be allowed.
