Th,e largest crowd to at- tend tlie 'pairy in, some year was recorded. Santa arrived in Hensall Fire truck'and was greeted by four hundred and sixty children who each were treated to a bag of potato chips, a chocolate bar and a bottle of chocolate milk. The children and parents were entertained with films with Bill Fussin charge of the projector. The hall was packed to capac- ity with about five hundred in the audience. , Hensall Businessmen Associa- tion sponsored the project. The Decemner meeting of Chiselhurst U n i te d Church Women opened with the theme song. The Sunday School rooms were suitably decorated in Christmas motif. Mrs. Thomas Brintnell opened with a Christ- mas Message for 1968. Mrs. Earl Kinsmen presented the worship serviee, assissted by Mrs. Percy Harris. The mission- ary prayer was offered by Mrs. Russell Brock. Rev. Harold Cur- rie presented "The Message of Christmas" with the scripture taken from the old and new test- aments,. Mrs. Alf Ross chose Makes Annual Visit "Star of the East" for an in- strumental. Twelve Christmas boxes were packed for the sick and shut ins. Mrs. Richard Tay- lor gave a talk on "Human Rights". Fifty children of the families of Hensall Legion and Auxili- ary were entertained at a Chris- tmas partyin the Legion Hall 'Sunday afternoon and were pre- sented w ith gifts an4 bags of can dy from Santa. They enjoyed cartoons with Eric Mansfield in charge of the projector. Lunch was served in- cluding chocolate milk for the children. In charge of the pro- ject were Mrs. William Smale and Mrs. John Skea. The annual meeting of the Anglican Church ' Women was held Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. John Henderson, with Mrs. Annie Reid in ctiarge of the devotional. Mrs. H. A. See- gmiller gave the address. It was announced that in place of the regular morning service on Sun- day, confirmation service will be held in St. Paul's Anglican Chur- ch, Hensall at 3 p.m. with the Right Rev. H.F.C. Appleyard (Bishop of Georgian Bay offic- iating.) DAVE KIPFER Mrs. Thomas Kyle Sr. receiv- ed word of the death of her brother Dave Kipfer of Albia, -Iowa. He was 74 and was born in Hay Township; A veteran of the First World War where he was wounded and gassed. He is Survived by a son, Donald of Albia, Iowa. His wife, son, and a daughter predeceased him.. Sur- viving are two sisters, Nancy and two brothers, Ewa Kipfer, Hensall, Simon, In the States, Mr. and Mrs. George Thomp- son attended the funeral in Har- riston Sunday of Mrs. Fred Gil- es. The late Mrs. Giles was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Thompson. The congregations of Cavan, Carmel, Hensall, and Cromarty Presbyterian churches, honored their minister for the past seven years Rev. J. C. Boyne and Mrs. Boyne, at a joint presentation held at Cavan Presbyterian Church, Exeter, Sunday evening, with the church filled for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Boyne were presented with a purse of money. Rev. Boyne and Mrs. Boyne and family leave for a new charge in Brantford the end of this month. A Christmas concert was a feature of the evening. Rev. Boyne will preach his farewell sermon Sunday morning. This Week At the Seatorik District High School Student Week The students displayed their school spirit last week as al- most everyone took an active part in student week. The hay - ride Planned for Friday" night was postponed until January be- cause of the weather conditions. The students were busy through- out the week decorating their home rooms. All the classes made a fine effort and the re- sults were beyond the greatest expectation. At noon on Friday the rooms were judged by Mrs. Hildebrand, Miss Shortreed and Miss Weiler. The winner of first prize was 12A; second prize 9D; third prize 11A. Everyone show- ed great interest and the Christ- mas atmosphere prevailed throughout the school. Basketball The coaches have been busy holding try -outs for the basket- ball teams and three teams have been chosen. Tne girls teams are playing in extvillsition game on Tuesday with Clinton. The boys teams played an exhibition game with Clinton last week. The junior team was defeated but our sen- ior team won over their team. The senior boys team will be playing in the Silverball Bask- etball 'Tournament in Kitchen- er on December 27, 1968., Constitution - The students' council has pas- sed a rough form of a constitu- tion for the school. Each class representative has a copy of the constitution which the stu- dents are to read in order to decide whether they will accept it and to suggest any changes. A student vote will be held to decide whether the constitution will be accepted. Our first shipment of scrib- blers and pencils goes out to Jamaica on Tuesday. The ship- ment of 24 cartons goes to Mor - ant Bay High School, Morant Bay, St. Thomas, Jamaica. A shipment of text books was sent out earlier to Seafarth, Jamaica. Shipments which are being packed by the students at SDHS have been made by the students' walk to Bayfield earlier this year: SPECIALS FOR Thursday.
