"We're also checking into the
performance of thermostats in
electrically heated homes," ad-
ded Mr. Stricker. "Sometimes
in very cold weather difficulties
arise in maintaining good tem-
perature balance in a room.
However, we now know that it's
not the fault of the heating
equipment but a shortcoming of
the control itself."
He noted that more studY
was needed since only a few
thermostats were not perform-
ing properly, and that most
manufacturers were applying
vigorous tests of their own be-
fore marketing their product.
Speaking .to 103 tradesmen;
electrical contractors, buildere,
plumbers, and utility men, Mr,
Livingstone, and other Hydro
.speakers, dealt fully with the
electric conversion market.
Those from Seaforth who atten-
ded were PUC manager Walter
Scott, Henry Schwartz of Frank
Kling Ltd and- Charles
son. The four-hour session was
a joint presentation of Ontario
Hydro's Exeter and Clinton rur-
al areas.
The speakers stressed that
the scope of the updating of
electric service and changing of
heating systems to electric fur-
naces, boilers, or cable, offer-
ed good employment prospects
and sales of equipment for the
business and trades people of
Huron County.
"To date in Huron County
conversions to electric heating
have shown good progress with
• about two dozen such install&
tions having been made in re-
cent months" Mr. Livingstone
added. A slide presentation by
