• We would like you to know our Bell people who live
'and Wor in your community, so from time to time, we will
insert their pictures in this colunin, telling you what they
do, and their interests in the community.
Mr. Harold Moffettis our installation and repair fore,
man for Chnton„„ Centralia, Crediton, Exeter, Goderick Hen -
sail and Seaforth exchanges.
Harold started at the Bell in January, 1949, in the Con-
struction Dept., doing line crew work and dial conversion
work in Owen Sound, Guelph, Stratford, Windsor, London
and surrounding areas, and was then posted to the Plant de-
partment in Stratford.
While in Stratfor,d, Harold did residential installations
as well as switchboard installations for commercial and in-
dustrial subscribers. After a short period as instructor for
new employees starting in the installation department he was
posted to Guelph as installation foreman.
This experience well qualified Harold for his appoint-
ment as Installation and Repair foreman -for the Goderich
territory.
Harold, his wife Betty and their three children, Lynn,
Raymond, Douglas reside on Nairn Park Subdivision in Gode-
rich. Mr. Moffett is a ineniber of the Royal Canadian Legion,
in which he has been active for the past 22 years. Like other
Bell Canada employees, Harold is always ready to be of assis-
tance and participate in planning community affairs.

Christmas, normally a joyous season for everyone else,
can become a headache for the Information group. So many
calls are received from children wanting to talk to "Santa in
Toyland” tht operators begin to wonder if the jolly old
gentleman really does exist.
There are some 707,000 calls to Bell Canada Informa-
tion during an average working day, and while such queries
as those outlined above represent a relatively small percen-
tage of the total, they still must be answered and they do
take up precious time.
Information operators are required to uge their good
judgment in handling customer calls. When they receive un-
usual requests for information, they normally direct the cal-
ler to the reference_ department of the public library where
they are quite sure the required information can be obtained.
For the rest, they grin and bear it. ,
