been instigated, by your forward-looking officials and 'supported
by your conscientious citizens. I have enjoyed working with
all of you and look forward to fulqher service as you launch
a second century of progress.
A centennial is a. time to pay tribute to our forefathers
who founded and developed our community and who have -provided
leadership over the years. It is also a time to look ahead
and plan for a community which can meet new challenges and •
provide new opportunities for its people and for the excellent
agricultural area it services.
One of those'fine-traditions; of course, has been the
high standar&of public service provided by The Huron Expositor

'fn reply to your request for remarks on
the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the
town, I must say at the outset that I do appreciate
the honor_ and opportunity of serving as Mayor at
this time. The town which we enjoy to -day represents
hours of work and thought contributed by hundreds of
devoted citizens commencing with the first council of
a hundred years agO and cOntinuing down through the
years.
While celebrating our 100th anniversary we
feel it is time to look to the future, and in this re-
spect many of our citizens are contributing' of their
services so that the community might enjoy bett-e*
faciliyties such as churches, schools, hospitals and
recreation in the future years.
I can think of the many hours being spent by
members of the recreation committee and, various organ-
izations of the town. The council too in creating a
planning board is looking to the future in which prov-
ision can be made for orderly growth.
In wishing every success in the future for
the Town of $eaforth I also want to wish The Expositor,
it's Editor and ,Staff, who are celebrating the 101st
Anniversary of the establishment of the paper, continued
success.
Yours sincerely,
