The Brucefield UCW met in
the Church auditorium Sunday
evening with music by Mrs. Mc-
Gregor at the organ. ,Mrs. J.
Henderson, president, 'opened
the meeting with a meditation
on Thanksgiving.
"Sing to the Lord of Harvest"
was sung. Betty Graham read
several passages from the old
testament and led in prayer and
Mrs. Treibner read a poem,
"Thanksgiving is for Everyone".

Henderson received the offer-
ing and :the junior choir girls
sang "Keep Singing".
Mrs.- Ross Chapman, Mrs.
John McGregor and Mrs. Tomp-
kins presented a skit showing
the many, many pined thank -

many more opportunities which
are open to our churches to do
good.

the extent of the 1969 road
program.
Ordinary . maintenance and
the .proposed new Wallace
bridge vvill account for approxi-
mately $180,000, much of which
will be covered by grants. Fac-
ing council is a decision wheth-
er to rebuild a limited mileage
of additional roads to present
standards' or apply calcium
across -the system.
Reeve Hugh Flynn presided
and all members' were present.
Council provided for school
board nominatiOns. The clerk
was instructed to1.i interest
of 7% per annum n, 0drain ac-
counts'. A grant of $750 to the
Hullett Federation of Agricul-
ture was approved.
The assessment roll for 1969,
submitted by assessor George
Carter, was accepted and court
of revision for Nov. 4. The roll
shows an increase in assessment
and a slight decrease in popula-
tion.
County assessment commis-
sioner E. F. Hall attended the '
meeting and discussed with
council the place assessin'g
would assume under the county '
system.
The tender of George Radford
Construction on the open por-
tion of the Baker drain was ac-
cepted at $2,350.00 and council
approved the use of, approxi-
mately 5,000 additional yards of
gravel and fill in the road pro-
gram.

Allan Nicholson, road super-
intendent, reported receiving a
certificate for successfully com-
pleting a course at T. J. Mahoney
Road School at University of
Guelph.
No Inquest

Coroner, Dr. R. W. Flowers
of Clinton, said the youth had
been dead several hours when
his body was found about 2:30
a.m. Saturday. He was alone in
his car and there were appar-
ently, no witnesses, the coroner
said.
Provincial • ponce from the
Goderich detachment said they
had not • determined the cause
of the accident.
The youth is survived by his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gysbert
Vanderharr of RR 2, Bayfield,
and three brothers, Douglas,
Fred and Donald, all at home.
The funeral was held at 2
p.m. today at the Christian Re-
formed Church, Clinton. Bnrial
was in Clinton Cemetery.
