Now all third and fourth class items of 'mail if' they weigh one pound or less will be handled „as third class mail and as - parcel post when ..they weigh over one pound. The adniinistrative work in defining class will be eliminated and the work at pest .office wickets and in the mail rooms of industrY will be faster - Mittmore accur- ate. With this change the spec- ial delivery and insurance sys- tems which *plied to parcel post or fourth class mail will be extended to cover third class. Included in the third class mail category are addressed and unaddressed circulars and all types of greeting cards, includ- ing Christmas cards. The rate changes to these which are re- presentative of the new rate structure will establish the cost of mailing an addressed circular • or a greeting card at 5c for the first two ounces and 3c for each additional two ounces. Many a friendship dies a-borning while everybody waits for the other fellow to take the first step. A girl can learn to give a gracious sign of interest; boy can summon courage to take a chance and ask for a •date. Practice is the thing. My len-cent leaflet, "Don't Be Shy", is on its way. Read it and wade in. • . DEAR DORIS — I'm very 'happy with my work set-up, make my own decisions, work with several professional boss- es. All I have is myrgrade 12. My work pleases them all, but this saying certainly ap plies to me:. "She knows her work but can't explain it so that another person on grasp it." I do my work and person- nel watch. This way they learn by seeing. If I try to explain with no actual work, it is all lost. Is there a remedy for this? Would public speaking classes help? Poor Explainer DEAR POOR — Teaching is a skill allits own. It's not so much having 'a, degree as hav- ing a talent for teaching, but public' speakingclasses would give you some ease with ,words. Today the best teaching is accompanied with action and demonstration. This is follow- ed by putting the learner through his paces so' that he actually- learns by' doing. Such routines are far more effective than the lecture method alone. So you are out in front when it comes to meth6d. Don't let all those graduates intimidate yen They don't mean to. Your brother's wife is 'going to have to take a little action her- self or no social worker will in- terfere. You can seek (fat the right resource through your regional welfare officer; then give her moral support to take the nec- essary steps. Those five child- ren deserve a better deal. The indulgent Granny adds one more complication. It's tough enough raising a family even when parents pres- ent a united front. Try for your husband's co-operation in taking a firm stand and stick- ing to it, even if it does annoy grandmother. ./ UCW Meets The 'September unit UOW meeting was held M the home Mrs. W.
