grains salt. Beat until cream
texture starts to thicken; add

ing until mixture stands in pea-
ks. Pile into seawing dish, cover
an_d freeze until firm 2-3 hours.

until smooth. If a thinner con-
sistency, is desired add 1 - 1%
tsp. 1 2/3 cups.

CHOCOLATE WALNUT
SQUARES
1 cup sugar; % cup shorten-
ing, melted; 2 medium eggs,
unbeaten; % tsp. vanilla;
tsp. salt; % cup sifted all-pur-
pose flour; 1/3 cup Cocoa,;
tsp. baking powder; % cuP eh -
upped walnuts..
•.Combine sugar and melted
shortening mixing bail'. Add
eggs beating well until light
and lemoncoloured. Stir in van-
illa. Sift together salt, flour,
Cocoa and baking powcier. Add
to cream mixttue; beat until
smooth. Add mita; stir until.
mixed. Bake in greased 8 -inch
squarer- pen in moderate oinert
(350°F.) for 30-35 minutes. Cool
in pan then,ipe With chocolate
icing or spfmkle lightly with,,
icing sugar and Pieces of nuts.,
Yield: 16 squares.

BEEF SANDWICH
1 lb. ground beef; % tap. salt
% tsp. pepper; 1 tbsp. Cocoa;
2 tbsp. water; 2 'tbsp. white
vinegar; 2 tbsp. corn syrup; -$4;
cup prepared rintstard; 1/3 cup
Ketchup or chili settee; 1% tsp.
Worcestershire sauce.
Place beef. in skillet; sprin-
kle'with salt and pepper. Brown
over medium heat; break up
with fork as it cooks. Mix to-
gether Cocoac water and vine-
gar then add reonaining ingred-
ients, mixing well until blend -
Mt Add sauce- mixture to
browned% meat; Iif virell. Keep
warm over loW heat until rea-
dy to Stine. Serve on toast Y.

iliary will hold their annual
, meeting at Seaforth Communi-
ty Hospital, Tuesday, Sept. 10th;
at 8 pan. The executive would
appreciate a good turn out.

ORWELL ELLIOTT "
Orwell S. Elliott, 57, Brussels,
died in Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don, Sunday. He suffered ' a
brain hemhorage Saturday after-
noon.
• Mr. Elliott was born in Grey
Township, a son of the lide Mr.
and Mrs. George, Elliott " He
lived in 'Brussels since his re-
turn from service during the
Second World War.
He was a member of Melville
Presbyterian Church here, the
local branch Of the Royal Can-
adian Legion and St. John's
Lodge AV MA AM,
Surviving are his wife, the
former Elizabeth Fear; one
daughter, Dorothy; two broth-
ers, Richard, Palmerston;
George, Brussels. • -
The -funeral service was at
the D. A. Rann funeral home,
Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial follow-
ed in Brussels cemetery.
