The rain and high w nds
caused damage to crops almost
ready for harvestitig. Corn in e
number of areas was blown
down but farmers say it will
come back again.
Seaforth suffered its pervious
damaging storm about two
months ago when similar dam-
age was done. On that occasion;
the high winds ripped the roof
off the Cardrio block.
Barns Down
Damage was more extensive
in Stanley Township where' a
small tornado ripped through
a two-mile section of the Bay-
field Line five miles west of
Clinton Monday night.
William Brand of RR 2, Bay-
field and his • neighbor, Frank
Thompson, were the hardest hit.
Mr. Brand estimated damage
to his farm at $25,000. His barn
was levelled but only one of
25 calves in the barn was kil-
led.
Mrs. Brand said the house
"took an awful shaking".
A barn and garage were de-
molished' on Mr. Thompson's
property and a new wire fence
was ripped down.
His wife, Elizabeth, used sacks
for her children when their pa-
jamas were ripped off on a
trip across the road to the home
of Mr. Thompson's mother, Mrs.
Fred Thompson.
An L-shaped barn on Mrs.
Thompson's property was de
stroered.
Mrs. Thompson received 20
