- the Stratford General
He WAS born in (*Manes,
Ireland and COTO to Canada at
the Age of 10. He had lived In
Stratford for the past 41. Years,
He was a retired dry goods sake-
ele was with the firee of J,
J. Crosier and Company for 25
years And Previously was with
the John MacTaviell Stem in
Seaforth. He retained his inter-
est in the town and was a visit-
or here at the July first home-
cepeing weekend.
He was a veteran of the First
liVerld War. He was in the 161st
Battalion, and was wounded in
France.
He was' a tnember of St.
• James' Anglicae Church and the
Stratford Lawn Bowling Club.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Olive Victoria Siegel;
one daughter, Mrs. W. B. (leis)
Evans, Warren, Mich.; one son,
William, RR 4, Seratforde five
grahdcbildren; two sisters, Miss
Emily, Toronto; Mrs. L. (Fier-
ence)Wiltshire, Leamington;
one brother, Artber, Toronto.
The bbdy was at the Oiegras
funeral home where service was
held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial
was in Woodland cemetery, Mit-
chell.

the young married men played
an exhibition softball game last
Tuesday evening in the Com-
munity Park, ending with a
score of 9-8 for the oldsters.
Mrs. G. E. Gardner of Prince
Albert, Sask., spent a few days
with Mrs. W. R. Broadfoot and
Mrs. Robert McMillan of Sea -
forth visited at the same home
last Tuesday.

, Our local jitneys are continu-
ing to draw a good crowd. Thirty
four were present Tuesday
night. We hope this.. continues
all summer. Local bowlers have
been competing in several out of
town tournaments and some
have beim quite sucessful. The
ladies are hoping to bowl far
the McClean trophy in the near
future.

meet again on September 2nd at
8:30 p.m.
