"Goodness, I just take chances," he exclaimed. Mr. Thompson said only one of his classmates is still living. She is Mrs. Alice Joynt of Hen- sall. Mr. Thompson spent a quiet birthday and went up to his son's for an evening dinner. He had plenty to do during the day, however. He received over 60 birthday cards from relatives, 'friends and well-wishers, some of whom he had never heard of before. McDougall was assessor and Julius Duncan, trea- surer. Salt was discovered in 1868, on the Coleman-Bouinlock prop- erty south of the railway track and east of South Main Street and by 1870 one of the largest salt wells in Canada was operat- ing in Seaforth.
