Seaforth United Church Wo-
men were hostesses for the
Spring executive meeting of the
Huron -Perth Presbyterial
Women, Wednesday estening
June 5, with Mrs. Harold Ba-
benese, president, presiding.
Mrs. Stevvart Miner, vice-
president, conducted the wor-
ship service using as her theme,
"Leadership". Mrs. Miner stated
that most leaders feel unequal
to the tasks set for them but
by listening to others, reading
gooel books, listening to worthy
radio and TV programs , by
prayer and remembering God's
promise, "Lo, I am with you
always", they can fit them-
selves for the task, God gives
everyone the strength and abil-

Bride -Elect
A very pleasant evening was
spent in the school room of
Cavan Church, Winthrop on Sat-
urday evening, June 1st when
a number of friends'and neigh-
bors gathered to 'honor Mrs.
Charles Roley, nee Frances
Blanchard. During the evening
a resipe book was made, also
a bride's book. Several contests
were enjoyed by the ladies after
which Mrs. Roley was presented
with a large number of useful
gifts. A delicious lunch was
served and "For she's a jolly
good fellow" was sung.

Reunion
The 33rd Harrison Reunion
was held at Lions Park, Sea -
forth, Saturday, June 8th, 1968
under sunny skies with 72 in
attendance. It was agreed to
hold the reunion again next
year at the same location.

of the contirmed need for good
used clothing bales.
Mrs. George Wilson, Public
Relations Officer, was asked to
compile a Nevvaleter for distri-
bution in Huron -Perth Presby-
terial. Mrs. Wilson, reported that
an Information -0eidire is to he
established in Westminister Col-
lege for the convenience of Lon-
don Conference. The London
Conference Public Relations
Committee of which Mrs. Wil-
son is a member, has had its
proposal that the UCW of Ca-
nada present the name of Dr.
Robert McClure to the Nebel
Peace Prize Commission for
consideration in 1969, accepted.
by London Conference.
Arrangements are continuing
regarding - the erection of a
plaque at Westrninister College
to mark the contribution of
Perth United Church Women
to the Furnishing Fundy Mrs.
W. J. Leslie. reported.
Delegates. to the London, Con-
ference School for the women of
the United Church at Alma Col-
lege in August are: Mrs. Oliver
Baker, Mrs. Lloyd Bond, Mrs,
Russell McCallum and MrS, Ed-
win Miller.
Mrs. Lloyd Bond and Mrs. W.
B. Cruickshank attended the or-
dination of Rev. Mervin Pen -
found at Windsor and arranged

Allan Gough of Stratford will
be going to Nairobi to teach
communications, use of radio
and television, under the spon-
sorship of all the African
Churches. The purpose is to
teach the residents of the coun-

Mr, and Mrs. Arthur Bishop
of North Bay have been visit-
ing with Mr. and Mrs. Bob' Tay-

Mrs. Elma Jewitt and Brian,

Kevin and Steven and Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence McIlroy of Shel-
brook, Saskatchewan, visited on
Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Wil-
liam Dowson and family.
The Varna UCW met Thurs-
day evening at the church. Mrs.
Charles Reid opened the meet-
ing with prayer and the minutes
of the last meeting were read
and the roll.call answered. Mrs.
Reid gave a report of an execu-
tive meeting she had attended
at Seaforth. The annual Picnic
was 'planned for July 3rd at
Bayfield:
After the business the worship
period was held, led by Mrs.
Bob Stirling. The meditation
was given by Mrs. Bill Taylor
and Mrs. Bob Webster read a ,,,
poem "I Had No Time". The
collection was received by Mrs.
Bill McAsh and dedicated by
Mrs. Bob Stirling.
Mrs. Bob Taylor introduced
her sister Mrs. Cora Bishop who
gave a very interesting talk and
showed slides on her trip to
Japan which she had taken this
spring.
The ladies of the Goshen
1JCW were also guests at this
meeting.
Rev. Currie of Hensall was
guest minister at the Varna
Chtfich on Sunday for the Bap-
tismal and Sacrament service.
